So. you want to be a roadracer?
If any of you are thinking about stepping up from trackdays to actual club racing, as I did last year, you might want to check out an article I wrote about the experience for the new MCADX (Motorcycle Addicts) E-zine:
So, you want to be a roadracer? - MotorcycleAddicts.org
I hope you like it!

"...thining of stepping up..." He says that so casually, masking the true addiction...

hahahahah Great Stuff I am excited for you. I remember my first grid line up. I was such a bone head I took off even before the green flag. (I took off when they drop the red flag. You do dumb things when your heart is just racing). Of course I have to back paddle back to the line. It was fun and embarrassing. I made sure I didn't do that again.

My first race weekend was at homestead, I was puking after every practice session the nerves were so bad, I started like 4th row or something and by lap 2 I was in a 3 way battle for the lead, I forget the number of the turn but it's coming down off the back straight, a really fast left hander, thats where I lost the front at about 140mph.
I bullshit you not my bike went 40ft up into the air and almost came down on me, the feeling was a lot like big wave surfing when you get pounded for what seems like an eternity, somehow I looked up and saw the bike, it looked like a little spec up there but it was right in line with me, so I dug in with my hands and feet and got slowed down enough to avoid getting squashed by it.
Bike was totalled cept for the motor, bout two weeks later I was back with a new bike and got my first win at moroso.
Good luck jbraslins and remember, think of it as a fight, 2 wheeled war, you have to ride with rage and anger to achieve success, and let us know how it goes.
When you grid up you should be in this mindset

So, good news:
I am a WERA Provisional Novice #13
I finished all 4 of the races i signed up for: A&B Superstock/Superbike
I finished ahead of my starting position in all 4
I now have 1 point in B Superstock Novice mid-adlantic championship
Bad news:
I came 4th to 2nd from last in most of em
I came last in the B Superstock , guys behind me crashed out.
12 year old kid on 125cc 2-stroke finished ahead of me during rider school mock race (i had a lil off-track excursion on lap 2).
Overall, I HAD THE BEST TIME OF MY LIFE.
Going to Summit in April for next WERA weekend.
