really coming along! well done! that almost looks better then carbon the way it is.
have you settled on a method to keep the epoxy form getting destroyed by the ethanol in the gas?

lol ok... I still don't understand why you are so hostile...
tought I'd throw this out there but just to warn you there is nothing actually out on the market that is in fact ethanol stable, they all say they are but they all break down in a matter of years ... eventually the ethano starts to eat the resin in the tank and solvates it depositing it in the valves seats and over time you can throw a valve or crack... this was a huge problem in the marine industry when the fuels switched to ethanol additives. many many engines were damaged by this. Polyesters/vinyls are the most succeptible but epoxies arent any better just last a little longer before they go to shit too...
Trust me, I have had a lot of research in this with the marine industry... you need to find a sutable sealer, and that's harder then it seems, the ones out there, por-15, kbs gold, redcoat, etc the list goes on, have all failed miserably in several years exposure... even the most resistant epoxies the novolac's despite being ablt to handle the craziest solvents and acids are no match for simple ethanol... sorry for trying to help you out, I'd hate to see you go down in flames...literally...good luck.

thanks for your help man, i feel saved from myself now
there are plenty of people who make gas tanks and while i have heard a few stories over the years about some leaking i also have seen lots of them sell and have no problems

The 1098 is pretty much done....maybe a fork revlave & spring...BUT
I am trying to head off to europe and if i do, the 1098 will be sold and i will be bringing the sledghammer (415lbs fully fueled for now) ZX10R.
That chain guard looks great on the 6R not sure if you looked at the link i sent you.
but can you replicate for $100 a peice?
or do half versions for the zx10r?

nice work on the tank plug, do you clearcoat the plug before you wax it down and use it? also, do you have any intake runners for the 748/996 bikes? TIA...

CF Tank
Good luck on sealing that tank. I had one and it leaked after a couple years. Gas ate right thru the resin. Sealed it with POR and it still leaked.
Not saying that you cant do it just that my experiance was bad with a $1000 item.
Saving my pennies for an Aluminun one from Japan.

no i don't know it all, but you are not trying to help me and you know it. you also have no idea on how much i do know or how skilled i might be i started to make a gas tank with no skill or knowledge and i am going to put it on my Rc30 and blow it up LOL
you are acting condescending and are hiding under the guise of helping me when i CLEALY know one or two things about the gas tank and it is evident by the fact i will have one made while you make outlet covers
you clearly have no intent on offering a nice word, and your attempts at helping me make a tank you can't are worthless pal
furthermore,if you are as nifty with composites as you imply why don't you have a site and where are all your parts?
wonder how this claim is made? no leaks, liars
FuelCel, Home of the Worlds best Composite Motorcycle Fuel Tanks !
I know QB carbon makes some nice non-leaking tanks and i know of dozens of owners of composite tanks that don't leak despite what you think or imply.
Oh, as far as the shot in the dark goes i could care less if i have to make a new tank every few years as once the molds are done the cost for me to make another is slimish and no big deal for a project bike, but you know that already.
maybe not hating on me would get your more than telling me i am going to fail and you told me so LOL
why don't you show some pics of your projects and your attempts for people to see? i at least have the balls to try something most won't and my tank looks fine, no need to hate the playa man, hate the game

Looks good Mark... I wouldn't know the first thing about making a carbon
tank... the only way I know to build a tank is to hand hammer the aluminum
sections and then gas weld them together...

I was never condecending, I think you made a nice looking plug, I was curious if you had addressed the issue of sealing, I recall talking about it in the past with you on another thread.
firstly I have severl parts that I have made (zx6r side panels, gsxr airbox/tank cover, rc52 headlight covers, undertails, chain guards for the RC & 600rr, and whole bunch of other novelty pcs), . I made light covers because I wanted to and thought they were neat, you are the one being condecending at this point.
if you really want to get personal we can. just because you have a web site, and sell crappy wet lay open molded stuff doesn't make you god, sorry. unfortunately most people can't tell the difference between true quality composites.... hence they are happy with yours, not saying that your don't meet a cosmetic need which they certainly can and do, but that's where it ends... Your parts leave a lot to be desired in my opinion...
I'm sorry for it ending up like this in your thread, but you are too much sometimes, I don't know what wtf is wrong with you or whats up your ass... frankly I don't care. You are hostile, not just toward me but to others that ever ask or question your parts in any way that you think is a hit against your ego. I'm starting to think that you are either bipolar or manic, or just a plain old crack addict starting to slip into paranoia lol

listen, we can banter all day long but i will stick to my wet lay parts and i make nearly 100 different ones.
just because you use some infusion you never bothered to mention how you cure it, post cure it or what you use for a UV inhibitor, why?
you can try to attempt to slander me as always and infer my way is inferior while i continue to make and sell more and more parts
glad you bought a airtech infusion kit and you certainly make top end strong outlet plates
while to continue to infer people are stupid and don't know anything, them same people have me repairing people like your parts. show me how you repair parts, show me your one off custom parts, show me something rather than your i am better and use a superior style
i simple wet lay as there is no NEED to infuse heel guards and such and you and i have spoken about this many times. my style allows me easier custom parts and it fits the needs i have as well as my customers. i will continue to make and sell parts while you infer my way sucks maybe you can be condescendning enough to explain how i can improve my near perfect finish and clearcoat? i use 7 different material choices and VERY high end epoxy resin and post cure all of them as well as clearcoat so armchair me from there bro, what makes them cheap? LOL
OH, half the parts you make i was making more than a year ago LOL
until i see some different parts from you i will take your experience as novel. i am not saying i better than anybody but you certainly sound like that on several threads
i have been where yu are but have you been where i am?
don't mention other people as they are not here man, just you. i don't not answer anybodies questions, i try to answer all of them, where did i not?
and if you don't care and my wet lay is no good why are you in every thread of mine asking me silly questions and telling me how my parts are no good, strikes a nerve and hence the fuk off attitude
how about you NEVER come on one of my threads again, fair enough? how is that for nice toolbag

It's going to look beautiful and very blingy but I hope it never hits the pavement resulting in a fire or explosion!
