Default Buying my kid his first set of dirt bike gear..need help

Hey guys,

I am going to buy my kid his first set of riding gear.
he already has a Helmet and pair of gloves.
What else is an absolute must have as far as dirt/trail riding goes.
I was thinking of chest/shoulder protection and goggles.
Its cold out here but he still wants to ride. Thinking of investing in one size bigger riding gear so he car wear warm clothes underneath and once summer is here he shoudl grow into them.
What do you guys suggest?

BOOTS!

...along with those goggles and the chest protector.

Goggles and chest protector for roost and tree branches/bushes.

Boots for tip overs and close brushes with solid objects.

Knee and elbow pads along with the rest of the stuff mentioned.

Anything to keep him from injury, it adds up, but when he crashes if he gets hurt he will want to stop.

don't skimp on helmet & boots & look into investing in a neck roll

the rest is best bought used or on closeout
they outgrow the stuff before they even break it in

Rocky Mountain ATV/MC

excellent company and great exchange policy.

They have really good deals on closeout stuff I just bought a new outfit from them last night. Dirtbike gear is so cheap I always look good out on the trail

Decent boots, Knee armour, a body protector with built in back protector and kidney belt like the EVS balistic vests or 661 pressure suit, a decent neck protector as the helmet and head will have a lot of momentum for the neck to cope with, again my preferance is EVS a broken arm will mend a broken neck altho almost unheard of may not, don't let it be your son

Just got back.
got him chest/shoulder and back protector, knee pads, elbow pads, goggles, neck roll and boots. Since its his first one I wanted to try out everything at a store before buying.
Everything (minus the Helemet) set me back a little over $200..aoouch..BUT there is no substitute for good protection.

Good set up, it always pays to try the kit on.
should be taking my boys out tomorrow or Sunday got two out on new bikes (KTM65 and Husky 50) and one I'm starting off on his first day(CRF50).
I'm hoping to get out some time tomorrow or Sunday myself. I think my best bet is take them tomorrow and go myself on Sunday.

Picture is worth a thousand words! I'm looking at a TTR50 for my 5 year old daughter (She keeps leaning towards the Honda though). It's good to see everything - sometimes the "help" at the dealership misses something (I HATE going back). The only difference? My daughter wants PINK.

Well done Kam. Chicks may dig scars, but parents dread them. Love the neckroll too. Wish someone would do some unbiased research on the much-hyped Leatt neckbrace to ensure it actually works instead of breaking collarbones and claiming they saved worse damage. Either way, looks like you got all the protection you can, short of bubblewrapping the little tike.

Was at the local shop on Saturday and bikes were going out the door the entire time. Gotta be the best rush ever for a kid to get a bike for Xmas.
