World champ Nicky Haydenâ€™s dad dragged into drug scandal - Motorcycle News - MCN

The father of MotoGP world champion Nicky Hayden has been dragged into a crack cocaine scandal after the manager of his business was charged with money laundering.

James Payne, 39, has been arrested on suspicion of links to a drug gang and charged with laundering money through 2nd Chances Auto Sales, Earl Hayden’s car dealership in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Richard Badaracco, assistant special agent for the Drug Enforcement Agency, said it was also suspected “he was providing vehicles to this drug organisation” using Hayden senior’s car dealership. Badaracco said Payne was charged with “two counts of money laundering” through the business.
A Kentucky business directory lists Earl Hayden as president of 2nd Chance Auto Sales and James Payne as vice president.

T-shirts bearing the name of his father’s business are currently on sale via Nicky Hayden’s official website.

At least 16 suspected members of a gang known as D-block, short for drug block, have been arrested in an operation involving 63 officers from Kentucky State Police, Owensboro Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration. They could face up to 40 years in prison if convicted.
The operation, codenamed Blockbuster, was the climax of a year-long investigation.

2nd Chance Auto Sales declined to comment.

There is no suggestion of criminal acitivity by Earl Hayden.

see, you all just support everything i point out about you all being retarded. not to say he definately knew or didnt, thats where the word PROBABILITY comes in. its HIS business. hes in charge, its HIS vp, you would have to be a ****ing retard to have that go on under your nose and not realize something was up, even if you did not know the specifics. i doubt someone whos son has gone that far and who runs a car dealership is so incompetant and unaware. but he obviously isnt wise, look at who his right hand man is.

You do realize that even though someone owns a business, it's very easy for things to go on underneath them without knowing.

I work in IT in the data architecture team. You think my manager knows what my databases look like? You think my director knows? How about my CIO?

You think a restaurant owner knows all the ingredients that go into every dish that his chef makes? A chef can make 15 plates of the same dish, and he still can throw in something he shouldnt have, but by your logic, the owner should know.

In case you havent noticed, Earl is at his son's races, pretty much all the time. Given he's away from his business a lot, it's very easy to overlook things.
