Apparently the new "Dream Machine" is an 18 wheeler with Honda graphics?

Isn't that what Honda is famous for? Waiting to see what everyone else comes up with, see what sells, and then rip it off? They do it time and time again. When was the last time Honda came up with an original idea?
Everything they ever do, they either steal or buy from the original inventor. Phuck Honda.

You have forgotten about the original dream machine, the ST1300. Highly original and bad to the bone, with V4 goodness in every bite!

From a more reliable online news source.
Updated With Photos: Honda Announces 2008 Models At Dealer Show, But Where's That New CBR1000RR? News Article // RoadracingWorld.com
The VFR didn't change. The new CBR600 is as ugly as the pics previously posted of the 1k. And Honda threw the public a bone(ing) by only going street legal with the CRF230.

Let's not forget "BIG RED"! Steal the specs from a Yamaha Rhino, make it look more like a riding lawnmower, and voila! It's a Honda!

Keep dreaming for another year Hondapeople!
No V5 anything, no V4 sportbike, no "RC61"?
But... the mighty GXV160RR gets bumped up to 4.6 hp this year.

Honda Dream Machine
Yes, we all now know, it was just a dream.
Welcome to the bright sunshine of a new day. Honda has become GM. They don't invent new things, they leave the innovation to those other small manaufacturer's. MAybe next year.
Bwah ha hah ha.
Larry
VFRrider, still riding the best model they ever made, and apparently, ever will.

The new CBR1000RR is indeed all that. It's WAY more refined and original than you can see from a single side view. It is still VERY Honda, but very unique and different. It's very short and blunt looking - and very minimalist. The weight is very light and with little mass. I sat on it several times trying to deduce whether I was feeling low center of gravity or a real weight loss - and I think it's substantially lighter than before. As far as innovation, it doesn't seem THAT remarkable. It's just the way they put it all together. I mean the exhaust isn't really remarkable - it's a huge steel box aft of the right fairing with an aluminum end piece, but the way they incorporated it is actually nice. - you gotta see it. As I said in another thread, the bike reminds me of the unveiling of the 1993 CBR900RR. THAT bike really didn't have anything ground-breaking when you think about it, but, it was the way they put it together. And, as we know, that bike was(and is, amazing). I think once the official unveiling of the CBR1000RR is done you'll see something done right.
Keep in mind that the CBR1000RR isn't my cup of tea at all. I was still waiting on some type of V-twin thing. My Honda reps and connections at Santa Clarita still insist something cool is coming. But they've been telling me that since 2002. I remember one of my friends at Honda asked me if I liked the Tuono, and of course I said yeah. His response was "Wait 'til you see what's coming." That was 5 years ago. When I got back from the show last week, I put a nice big deposit on a Hypermotard-S.

Despite my long-standing aversion of Honda motorcycles (I continue to think they are too refined, too reliable, too well finished, too smooth, too generic, too polished to have any strong character to them) - if this bike is relatively as "good" as its little brother the 600RR is, then everything else will be second string in terms of handling and sheer performance.
But would I WANT one? Would I LUST after one? Prob'ly not. It's a damned HONDA! I have appliances in my kitchen that also work wonderfully well, that also don't give me any crap, but that also don't excite me. Give me an ornery, maintenance intensive, gorgeous sounding, great handling, temperamental, beautiful Italian red-head any day. I'm weak for her charms!

Somethime those showbikes have next to nothing inside the "engine" so they feel really light.

Hey, here's a Honda dream machine - How about a supersports bike with a slipper clutch ? You know, brake-slip-slip-accelerate, brake-slip-slip-accelerate. I hear a couple of other manufacturers have been dabbling with them a little bit.
|
Honda invented the slipper clutch, and put them in every V4 bike they ever made except the ST.
That said, the new 1000RR has a slipper.
