Hey, here's a Honda dream machine - How about a supersports bike with a slipper clutch ? You know, brake-slip-slip-accelerate, brake-slip-slip-accelerate. I hear a couple of other manufacturers have been dabbling with them a little bit.

There is a lot missing from their lineup, IMO, so hopefully the Tumbleweed will fill on of those gaps.
Take your pick:
-a supermoto bike
-a real sporty standard
-a 1kRR update
-a VFR without all the "sport" dialed out and the "tourer" adjustment dialed to 11
-a sporty twin designed in the 21st century

Where's the V4 sportbike?
And what about the ultimate imaginary bike- the "RC61"?
At least the GXV160 gets bumped up to 4.6 hp this year.

The '08 CRF250R comes stock w/ a damper. That's gotta count for something, right?

hahahaha,
Exactly...has it ever been said at Honda headquarters at any time " ah all of our competitors have slipper clutches in their super bikes, perhaps we should actually try to compete and offer one as well." DUH !!! Honda has serioulsy fallen completely by the way side. If were talking super sports bikes here...Honda is currently dead last. It's sad to, because they have the money, experience, and engineering to make incredible bikes, but year after year continue to release boring, overweight, underpowered bikes that lack many of the latest technological improvements that their competitors offer.

Sizmtrz,
100 % agreed Honda makes incredible race bikes, but I think this thread was referring to what you and I the consumers can purchase. Unfortunately Honda's current lineup that is for sale to the public, is the most un-inspiring, overweight, and underpowered of all the manufacturers. Now, I will say the new 600RR is sopposed to be good, but I haven't ridden one, nor has anyone I know. That being said most people I have spoke with would much rather have a Triumph 675 or a Gixxer750 if there trying to stay away from liter bikes. Who knows though, maybe they will actually give their customers what they want (150+HP 1200cc, sub 420lb., RC62???), but considering Honda's track record of late...not likely. Have a solid Labor Day

You too Eric! Hope you have a great holiday. Mine will be good as I am at work making triple time! LOL
I know what your saying is true if you look at the spec sheets...My guess is that you are a far more capible rider than I am and are looking for peak performance from the showroom floor... whereas me being a young rider (skill wise) look for the most userfriendly package... and thats actually the niche honda seems to have found... making their bikes the easiest to ride fast...
I'd love another honda V sport bike, but im finally learning that timeless lesson, I need to go slower to be faster. I've unloaded my RC and am looking at a 600 or LWT twin ride for the track and a naked twin of some sort (KTM, Ducati) for the street. There was a photoshop some time back of an RC51 motor in a supermoto type chassis... Now THAT would be a dealmaker to keep me buying honda.

Interesting note. During the last World Superbike race, one of the announcers, a former racer, stated that next season Honda will have an all new race bike. Since SBK bikes must be based on a production machine, indeed it looks like we'll see a new big daddy RR for 08.
