That 1st 10 laps in the video is the Nurburgring GP course. Its a closed circit they open up as part of the north loop for some races. I have done trackdays there for 100 Euro and there was corner workers everwhere you look. The saftey features at the GP couse were the best I have seen.

Thumbs up ! Of The Best Times!

Hey PSk!

I'll say +1 there bro., with the part about hooking up a lite/light system, I think thats a great idea! They should do that!

I rode the ring about 14 yrs ago, and let me tell you something, It was/is Awesome!
We were out there running with m/c's and there was cars on the track, Opps! I mean road too, but you know what, I didn't give them a second thought, except for when I was passing them!

One of the best times of my life was there in Germany! If I could do it all over again, I'd jump on it RIGHT NOW! Simply Awesome Time

I'm sorry there is no way I'd race, lap any track that did not have flag marshalls, etc.

The Ducati rider would be alive today if they had flag marshalls as he would have seen a double waved yellow and buttoned off!!!

Thus for the owners to continue to allow this they need to install a light system all around the track and have cameras monitoring every section ... thus a few people in a 'computer' room could flick a switch to change lights in that area to flash yellow and thus warn drivers/riders that there is a caution ahead. To just take peoples money and do nothing should make you liable.

Default goto do it

If I had the chance to do it, I would. People die at the Isle of Man every year (racers, Mad sunday participants, and sometimes spectators) but I dont think twice about that either. I dont know whats worse..commuting to Brooklyn Monday morning from the shore or commuting home on a Friday down to the shore on the Parkway...LOL

I used to be a regular ringer in the late 90's and early 00's but had a break before going back August last year for 4 days.

I will NEVER go round it again on a public day on a bike. Way to crowded, way too many people waiting to be a statistic and, boy, are the locals on a mission to hassle any one not up to 10 minute lap times.

Of the 4 days - fri to mon - I was there the track was never open for longer than an hour before a serious accident closed it - a lot of the accidents that occured were, like the one at the start of the post, due to the consequences of another - normally minor - accident. Personally believe the fatality statistics are far higher than guessed at in other posts - I know for a fact that the official stats are manipulated by recording only deaths that occur at the track. If someone is loaded into the air ambulance and is only "alive" because the paramedic is pounding the crap out of their chest and then dies en route, this will never appear as a death linked to the ring.

I would advise anyone who wants to do the ring to go in a car as a passenger with an experienced ringer - look for the ring track map stickers on the back window; they are more than happy to take passengers around - and learn the track (as far as is possible) in relative safety.

I will be back later this year - in a car (incidently don't go in anything less powerful than an MX5 or similar) but as I said NEVER AGAIN ON A BIKE....

the vid of the bmw hauling ass there is wild, damn does the ring look dangerous for bikes. Ahhh what is the word for "runoff" in German? No wonder why there are so many deaths there, guardrails, fences, trees are
everywhere. You make a mistake there, its gonna cost you.

Wasnt a concern back when they made the track. They even used metal in F1 cars besides the engine block too.

As for riding the track. I hope to be able to do it one day either in a car or bike. This track is the racing fans Mecca

Talking 17 trips this year!

well guys/galls I was there that fatefull weekend.. and it was not pretty!
We have been going out there for over 10yrs now, and for the last 6 yrs commercially...
Our trips come with all the necessary safety briefings etc etc !
Although, we have had a few guys Bin it ! 4 in total
out of 200 peeps this year so far,
( non recieved major injuries) I think part of the problem is education, I'm not saying I have the answers, But my customers recieve it str8 down the line when I do the Briefing in the car park!
all of our peeps who have binned it , have either not listend or ignored our advice!
1 case in particular was a guy who I had just said to him!
If I were you I would not go out in the rain! (just started spitting) so he went !!!!
made it to T13 oh well, all my peeps came home,ok some had to leave their bikes there (Totalled) and come back in the support car!
anyways , dont avoid the place it's awsome, you have to look at how many peeps go around it each day with no problems!

1000's a day

See you all in 2007
Gimmi a shout if you need out!
