Default Anyone hear of Bitubo?

My buddy has a 2000 BMW 1150S and was telling me that he found some
unbelievable rear shock made by some Italian firm called Bitubo.
I suggested he look at the serviceability and quality of this shock before purchasing it. Has anybody on this board heard of this company?
Intended use will be street with some track.

Heard of them. Don't know a great deal about the company. I believe they are another European based shock, probably Italy. They sold conversion kits for the TL series to remove the rotary damper and replace it with an actual shock. I can't recall a recognizable race team that uses them, off the top of my head.

Even Marzocchi was stock items on some of the Bimota's.

They are distributed out of a company called MaxMoto here in the states. http://www.maxmoto.com/ They are clearing out their inventory 50% off. I spoke to the guy at Max Moto and he said the reason they're going to stop carrying them is not because of quality, but rather they are an Italian company and it's just too difficult to do business w/ them. Takes too long to get them in stock, communication is an issue w/ them being in Italy and Max Moto being in California, etc... Looks to be a great product, but just not enough services/support around it to make it successful here in the states. Call the MaxMoto guys, if they have the BMW shock you need, you can probably get a sweet deal...

Default I have one

I have a Bitubo rear shock on my Suzuki TLR. It's OK for the money, cost me about $500. Much better than the OEM mechanical rear shock they had inthere and much lighter too.
Downside is that they're not as adjustable as other more expensive options like Ohlins and Penske. Took my track club mechanics a while to get the setting right for the bike after I got it installed. I am not disappointed, I just know that someday I made need to upgrade again.

I would gather that they're more popular in Europe.
