How many people here keep their knee down all through the turn? I just sort of stick it out, make contact to know where the track is then pull my knee back in to where it is just barely brushing the track if even touching at all....although, in a real pinch I am almost holding the bike up like the time my footpeg hit the track and levered the rear wheel off the ground....freaky frightening....just instantly threw my knee down and yanked the bike back up.

Good article...thanks.

Funny how it works.
At first, people are dying to get their knees (elbows, shoulders.... ) down.
Then, they try as hard as they can to keep things off of the track that can slow them down.

Trak Pads. For me, everything else wears out too quickly.

Thanks, that was a good read. I just use the Dainese pucks that came with the suit, they have worn OK. It's funny, I was talking to Adolph at Z Custom Leathers one day about pucks and he made a pretty good observation. He said they aren't a third wheel, I laughed and said that your first set won't last very long since you can now get your knee down, it's like next is to push harder. Now I just use them as a lean indicator and get a lot longer life out of them.

A little history about Adolf. He is pretty much the man who created the darn things. KR may not mention him, but back in the day, he was the one who used to tape up KR's knees with batches of duct tape so he could slide his knee. Then he came up with the idea of sliders themselves. I cannot remember the first material used. I have some really interesting and fascinating conversations with Adolf.

If you want sliders that last forever, try toe Z sliders. Darn things deform in a funny way, but they are such die hard things. I cannot get mine to wear down to save my life.

Funny thing is that the better you get, and the faster your speed, the less time your sliders spend on the tarmac - go figure. I remember posting once that I seem to be able to do steeper lean angles when riding, but my knee is more tucked in to the bike these days. I am literally almost on my side before my knee touches. Wierd!
