Default Daytona 675 arrives in NY

My buddy picked up his Triumph Daytona 675 today. Nice looking, sounds just like the 955i Daytona but the pitch is slightly higher as would be expected.

Here's some pics

Anybody know how this bike has been doing in WERA/CCS racing this yr?

The Buells have been taken all the hype talk lately, still waiting to hear about this one.

Probably not too much info on racing since the bikes are just being delivered as we speak, unless factory sponsored, the bikes were not getting to anyone until just about a week or two ago.
I expect that the'll be pretty potent within their class. I can't wait to see it on the track, since he trailers with me, I'll be seeing a lot of this one.

unfortunately there are no aftermarket exhausts around except for a Triumph slip on and a $2000 Arrow full Titanium system, it;ll be a few months before the accessories hit the shelves. So for now, the sound will be muffled a bit.

How does the 675 ride?? Is it ballsy or will it leave me wanting more? (My Duc 750SS does)I am planning on picking up a new bike in the near future and I am trying to figure out if I want a 999, 675 or a 995i. Any body able to compare?? Sorry for the thread jack

Bit early to say, I did not get a chance to ride it yet. My buddy is the type to painstakingly break it in, which is good. I will get a chance to ride it later on. Sitting on it, all I can say is the bike feels small, narrow and the throttle has a very quick response.

My friend also has a 2002 triumph daytona 955i as well. Sounds the same, and I am excited to hear his feedback since he has the larger version of that engine. I know it's got balls in the 955cc version. Unfortunately the bike is a bit heavy, so this may be the answer for Triumph. The 600cc inline 4 cylinder just was not appealing to me so this is also interesting for me to follow. I may also be interested in this bike for myself next year.

So far all the written reviews are great, we'll see how it is for a non-journalistic mortal who primarily rides track days.

My friend said in the short ride home from the dealer that it felt good, but with a 5k redline for 500 miles it'll be a few days before he gets on it much.

I'll keep you posted.

It looks pretty ballsy, and with its specs it's HP isnt far behind the 955i. I like the look of the 675 better though especially with the undertail exhaust. Not a bad price tag either.

Default first impression

Spoke with my friend today, he rode the bike a bit as would be expected. Said the bike has lots of power, fast excelleration, Revs up very quickly and the bike steers VERY quickly. Should be a blast to ride at the track next month. We're headed to Pocono East and Beaverun in April.
He also said he's glad it comes equipped with a steering damper, the front end is very light.
I just wish he had some kind of exhaust system for that bike.
Nice way to begin a track day season.

Lol, just kidding. I'm actually looking for a new pet and I've been looking at Bulldogs and Dobermans.

Dobermans aren't nice to guests so I'm leaning towards the Bulldog.

The sportrider article talked about how high the seat is and i can attest for that. I was able to sit on one at the local dealer. If I sit back in the seat at all, im on my tippy-toes, and im 5'9''. Even full forward on the seat and its still uncomfortably high.
The bike looks fantastic and the dampener placement is quite clever IMO. I still noticed some cheapiness here and there in the bike, but its comparable to what you'd see in the typicaly jap bikes.
The dealer guys swore there's more power in this 675 than in the jap 600's. Produces 50lb/ft of torque and 110hp on their local dyno i believe, i dont recall where in the powerband.

If you get a quality bulldog, you will not be sorry, unfortunately its a lot more money for a bully than a Doberman. I can point you toward my breeder if you need it.

It would be cool to have a dog that could pick it's nose with it's own teeth...
