Wires by clutch lever????

As I was parked today looking at bike I noticed two wires that were not connected right by my clutch lever. They are about 6 inches long and come out of the bottom of the handlebar controls. There is a spot for them to be connected right where the cluth lever goes into the handlebar controls. Anyone know what these are for??? I checked in the manual and it doesn't specify what it is. My guess was that it is for the clutch safety swith to kill the engine if it is put in gear without clutch in. I would just like to know if anyone knows what this is. Thanks Jeremy
