Tachometer problem (works / doesn’t work)

Hello, I am new to the board, and the world of the RC51.

I just bought a 2001 with 4,900 miles and love it. I have put about 300 miles on it so far, and the tach has started act strange.

It will work for fine for a day or two, then not work at all. Then out of the blue it start to work again.

The odd thing is, EVERY time when I turn the key on, it will sweep just fine? So, I think the panel is OK, but the sensor that drives it might be going bad?

Has anyone every seen this problem? Does anyone know where the RPM sensor is located? Or know what I can do to troubleshoot it?

Hey Everyone,

Me again I rode again this weekend, and the tach is still working then not working....it is driving me nuts. Does anyone have any ideas??

Also, where is the best place to pick up a manual, and how much should I spend?)
