Default RC51 vs. 1000RR

I was wondering if someone could compare and contrast these 2 machines from honda from a performance standpoint. Obvious external differences aside (v-twin, dual exhaust, price) how can one compare do, what does one do better than other, ...

thanks to anyone who can explain this to me

Simple answer: The 1000RR will win every category head to head vs. the RC-51.

Complex answer: I would still rather have my RC-51. (Assuming I couldn't own both ) The RC is heavy (compared to newer liter bikes), doesn't have as much power, but It has someting that all the I-4s don't have. It's pretty much impossible to put your thumb on what that is for everyone that has one. I would recommend trying to get a ride on an RC. It may speak to you like it did me. Or, you may choose to go w/ the 1000RR which is fine. It's your choice.

The RC51 is a piece of shit compared to the 1000RR in every conceivable way except for ease of working on it.

Performance, handling, overall stability & reliability the RR is clearly the better bike all the way around.

Do the same mods to the RR that you would do to the RC & you have an incredible weapon in your hands.

In terms of performance?? Hands down the RR will spank the RC.

I wouldn't exactly call it a piece of shit! There's alot of pro claiming they would rather have the RC back racing.

ok maybe not alot, but wasn't it duhamel saying something like that? and you don't have to get all defensive. I'm just saying the RC is no POS.

I remember reading your posts and you were talking big that the RC was such a great machine, which it is! Now you are calling it a piece of shit? I would not go that far, I would say it does not compare to an RR. But to rip something down like you did is wrong, especially after all your previous posts in the past. Like I say all the time, you may not like my machine, I may not like your's, but hell, you ride a damn motorcycle and that is pretty cool in my book! Jeremy

It's hard to compare the two though. Completely different engines. I like my RC better, so much that I sold my GSXR1000 for it. Why, because the RC has more USE-ABLE power. Yes that's right, while my gsxr had 150hp, how often am I going to be using that? Not a whole lot. I haven't done any track days yet, but look forward to this summer. With the torque of the RC, IMO, it comes into play where it needs to. But again, they are totally different bikes.

For the money...the CBR is better .
But : I've worked a lot on the CBR,well,it's only a CBR,not more,not less . A small pumped up I4 car engine inside a Motorcycle

My RR has more torque for a longer spread than my RC did (& it has more than your RC too btw LOL). Furthermore I just turned an average of 4 seconds a lap faster at Barber this last weekend on my RR than I did on my RC. For those of you that don't equate that to track speed or useable performance, 4 seconds a lap means you pass somebody like God just shot you out of his personal slingshot around them...

Don't get me wrong the RC is a wonderful bike & is very stable, but I have been saying for years that the RC is not a good racebike & it's an even worse streetbike. For trackdays it is the dogs danglies! just one of the most gratifying track day bikes to ride & a lot of fun to have out there, but unless you are getting paid to race in AMA nationals you might as well expect every half assed rider on a bone stock 600CC machine to come speeding by you through every turn.

This coming from the guy who sold his HRC piston'd Rc51 engine because the extra 5hp was "too much" for him

you're a latest and greatest kind of guy, just face it.

Remember, everybike has it's time and place. In the next few years, the 1000rr will be old news and something new will be available that is far superior. The RC had its time about 4 years ago. I still love the bike, It's part of the RC heritage. An RC45 is total crap by todays standards, but un-real cool. Just because the bike is not the fastest out there doesn't mean that it is worthless.
