Default 520 or 530 chain??

so recently i ordered a new Renthal rear sprocket but unfortunately i got the wrong one i ordered a 520 (Renthal says that it had a 520) and come to find out i had a 530 chain and and sprockets. did the RC51 come originally with a 530? and what are the benefits of changing to a 520? weight?

BTW would any one want to trade a Renthal 520 42t for a 530 40T?

To answer your questions, yes it was originally equiped with a 530. The benefit of a 520 is weight and the ease of moving that less weight. I got a stock 41t 530 of my 1000rr that would bolt right up, if you wanna trade.

for a street bike, 530 is the way to go

your not gonna notice the weight benefit of the 520 unless your being timed on a track, and even then, its a SMALL difference

as far as the 530, you'll get thousands of extra miles of use for your money

you WILL notice a differance with the 520, and if you dont buy junk, and do regular chain maintenance, you wont notice it waring out any faster....
I have prolly 10k or better on my 520 stuff and there fine thus far....

I got around 16k miles on my stock 530, which was replaced with a 530. Although I'm curious if a 520 DOES make a noticable difference to those of us who aren't racing, I'd prefer not to change the chain and sprockets more often than needed. Tire life on the RC51 is bad enough.

Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, it's hard to beat going to 520, ESPECIALLY if yer gonna change 'em anyway. Less rotational (centripical) weight, AND less un-spring weight.

Semper Fi!
