Default acumen gear indicator

So I just installed a brand new Acumen Gear indicator on my 03 RC this one had a plug in harness so no wiring was required other than plugging it in. I'm having some issues programming the little Faker though.

I think I may have narrowed down the problem though.

The clutch master cylinder on my bike came from a RSV. Upon inspection of said clutch cylinder I noticed it has no clutch switch on it. Do you think this will cause a problem? I'm thinking the Acumen will never know that the clutch is engaged with out the switch.

It just blinks "1" when I try to program it and won't learn. Oh..I have the bike on a paddock stand and I'm keeping the tach between 2k and 3k like the manual says. Anyone got some info to share with me?

I have the direct wired Datatool DIGI gear indicator installed and I removed the clutch switch before that and everything works ok. (Not sure how different the two are, but they can't be too different.)

I thought Acumen only had the direct wire gear indicator for the RC51?

They sell harness's for the RC51, you just got to look hard. I found mine on Ebay, but I've seen seem for sale in the UK as well.
