Default Air Filters

I picked up my '02 this past November. It absolutely rocks. It also appears to have two different air filters. Does anybody know which is stock and/or the make of either? The fancier one on the right is heavier, oil-y-er, and has a smaller inlet. I will probably avoid it when I go to buy new ones. They are both clean, so for now they both went back in.

They are both stock\OEM that's the way my SP2 came... BUT it's been so long ago since using them and the OEM aribox.. I don't remember which is the "Right" and the "Left" side? LOL Actually that's "Front" and or "Back"

Try RonAyres web-site the comp.fishes might show which is which..? IF some one here doesn't chim in that knows..

Peace Mav.

The one with the insert in it is the left side.

Thanks! Filed away for future reference.

There's three parts numbers on the fiche for two filters which in the drawing look the same. Thanks Honda!

Yeah BUT... If you look at the Price(s).. I'm pretty sure you will see one of them is approx. double the cost of the other 2... which I'm guessing the 3rd part is for a SET... aka Both. .. What do you think..?

17235-MCF-000 ... $32.66 (listed twice btw in the same section)
17235-MCF-A20 ... $29.70
17235-MCF-D30 ... $29.70

If the first number is the set, I think that's a darn good deal.

All the more reason for throwing those two back in there for now.

Too much daylight would be wasted, especially with prime foliage season coming up, to do an airbox mod now. A PC3 and new suspension components are higher up on my upgrade list at the moment, anyway.

I don't think it matters what side they go on (I lost track a long time back), as long as one has the insert and one doesn't. Also, I'd think the shop manual would say something if it mattered. I'm guessing the insert has something to do with airflow and the lower carb.
