Default Tech question.

I'm pretty sure I trashed the 05 track RC motor at ECR yesterday.

For the board collective what is the best route to get it back?

Rebuild motor?

Replace motor?

Part bike and keep spares for my street RC?

Anyone have a motor for a addict that needs his fix to get back on the track?

I will have further diagnostics in a few days to see how bad the damage rally is.

Every now and then a motor will come through here in the $500-$700 range.

Before you can decide if it will be worth it to rebuild you need to get the head off to get a better assessment of the damages. Pull the heads and let us know what you find.

What happened? Did it died down quietly or did go out in ball of smoke?
I was going over this with a mechanic friend the past winter and he told me that, unless the damage is absolutely catastrophic requiring huge sums to fix it, it's always a better idea to fix the engine instead of getting a second hand one. Unless you can find a brand new engine in a crate you never know the condition the engine is in.
So take out the engine, open the heads and see how bad is in there exactly.

I had my girl on it on the back straight of ECR and it died a quiet slow death.
She said the oil light came on and died just like running out of gas.

It will be a few days and I will report with more diagnostics.

first thing is to check the oil and filter to see what comes from that.

I just saw this, and that looks pretty rough! I guess I wont be going to ECR with my RC!

Glad you got a new motor and are going to put her back together!

Got bike running, sounds like a strong motor.
Need to button a few things up.

It has just been Hot during the days here, is really the only reason it took this long.
