Smog crap

I had someone tell me that there 2008 Suzuki GSXR750 through an FI code and broke down because there charcoal can was removed. I was like ok well how do 49 state bikes, race bikes and the bikes in the rest of the world run without Ca smog crap. Anyone else here of such a thing, I haven't had any of that on my bike since I bought it 5 years ago.

On my ZX-10, I heard that you get a check engine light when you unplug the switch for the PAIR valve after you start it up instead of before. The charcoal canister isn't plugged into anything electrical though so it wouldn't throw a code unless there is a huge vacuum leak from ports not being plugged I guess. Other than that, he probably just left something else unplugged.

my friends have 08 600/750/1000s with full exhausts with no FI lights.


would Ca models have different ECUs?
