Default SP1 missfiring/cutting out

Hi Folks,
I got a problem with my '01 SP1/RC51, its developed an intermittent misfiring or cutting out problem. Hoping I might get some tips on what the prob could be and how to fix.
What is happening is when on a ride, after a while generally on the way home the bike starts misfiring when accelerating through the gears or at a constant speed even on the highway, it has also cutout for a few seconds or more when cruising. Also on my last ride the engine was cutting out when taking off at the lights, very shortly after I start rolling and am releasing the final bit of clutch the engine would cut out, kind of like if you weren't giving it enough revs but the engine wouldn't stall. I have not noticed any warning lights on the dash either but not sure if I just didn't look that the right time.

The bike has done about 16,000 kilometres has Yoshi's & a PC2 that is earthed to the neg on battery, I've also plugged the flapper vacuum tube. The battery is a new yuassa. I have also recently had the bike serviced and this problem did not show up the whole time but the next time I took it for a ride which was about a month later the above all showed up.

So far all I've checked if the fuel breather hose, next will be the spark plugs. The next bit of advice I have received was to take it to an auto elecs or have it dyno tuned.

Thanks

If you run a search on this very forum you'll find out that yours is most likely an electrical problems.
Most likely causes are: loose/battered battery terminals, a butchered cable, an oxydized connector (usually the ones residing under the L/H side fairing), a faulty alarm (if fitted), charge protection fuse coming loose.
Take off the tail unit and start checking one bit a time, then clean all connectors, it won't hurt.
Also consider that I've seen more than one PC2 causing troubles, so you'd better check that out too.

Yeah done the searches, the symptoms reported did not seem to be exactly the same as mine.
I did forget to mention the batt terminals are tight. With the PC2 it has been perfect since I earthed it to the Batt. I guess that doesn't mean it couldn't start going bad?
There are no other mods or accessories other than what I've already mentioned except for some flush mount indicators. Its otherwise stock.
I will look into those other things.
Thanks

check ALL your plugs. even the ones you think impossible to shake loose from the daily vibrations. check fuses. I had an issue similar to yours. I simply overlooked a plug i thought would never just come loose due to the vibrations... and ohhh i paid for it. make sure none of you wires have been rubbed raw

I had similar problems and checked out everything. The final verdict was the PC2. Since I got the PC3USB, haven't had any issues.

Just unplug the PC2 and try the bike out, that should narrow your field of investigation.

Sounds like a loose battery terminal to me

If the terminals checks out good? You might want to double check the coils connection. I had a separation between the coil and the coil wire going to the spark plugs.

Good luck
