Default Sp2 to mod or not to mod

Hi All , first post and have read a bit on here and on Rogue site.

I have 2003 SP2 which I bought a few years back as a keeper and a better long term bet than a GSXR750K4 which I traded against the Honda.

Bike came with Akrapovic slip on's and Gilles Rearsets.

I have since added K+N filters and a 5mm spacer to the shock.

I have since accumalated on e-bay a PC3 and Turn One Airbox - so here's the thing....

Bike is at friendly mechanics and he's asking me if I should be doing this to nice standard(ish) bike.

I was thinking do the airbox, PAIRS and Flapper mods as per Rogue site, fit the PC3 and have it all custom mapped.

Then with addition of my Moriwaki shock linkage wouldn't that be a tidy little SP2 ? It's only a Sunday toy and will see occasional trackday.

So any thoughts ? experiences to share ? I don't want too ruin lown down power, driveability etc. but I do kinda like to have something a bit different.

Mr mechanic is concearned bike will suffer poor running, increased engine wear...

Either way I think the PC3 goes in and so does the Moriwaki link - but should the rest ??

Thats a pretty popular set up around here and you dont tend to here any major problems maybe little things here and there, change the oil and it will run forever

how long have you had it? How many miles?(not like that really matters)

Let's face facts. These bikes likely will not see an increased demand in the marketplace any time soon for their status as a collectible. If you want to buy a museum piece, there are plenty of other machines out there better suited to that purpose. Yes, you could play the waiting game, but what fun is that? You obviously were not looking for an investment.

These bikes ARE especially fun to ride, modify, and individualize to your own tastes. This is probably pretty obvious from what you've seen on the forum here, and there is a wealth of information here and on the ROGUE boards. There is also a pretty clear consensus on what mods work and which are a waste of time and money.

Do what you want, thats the whole point of owning it. Good luck!

Hell yeah. Nothing you're planning here is irreversible. Even if you change nothing else do the flapper and PAIR mods, go 1 tooth down on the front sprocket and fit the PC - it'll be a much nicer bike to ride. If you ditch the OEM airbox and fit the Turnone with a custom map made the mid range on the SP2 will come alive.

After that suspension ... which is probably where you should have started ...

... and then ...

... and then ...

Welcome btw
