Default New ride

After my lowside last month, the RC was totalled, so I grabbed a new street bike with the insurance claim.

Not as snappy as my pig, actually, not as fun. But man she's comfy, still with plenty of power (front wheel comes up no problem), and I think the styling is finally appropriate (back in 01, I think it looked whack). Single sided swinger is sexy, and it came with hard bags, very nice to store my lid, jacket, pants, etc in there. Aftermarket full system, sounds nice. The dude who sold it to me was saying how LOUD it is... Uh, I wish I'd gone down on the pig to go pick it up, thing sounds like a sewing machine compared to my baby

Sadly I'll be putting her away soon for the winter, but I'm looking forward to putting some miles on her next season.

Oh yea, its got a real fuel gauge, and a clock!!!!

Nice ride, and welcome to the club. Be prepared for people to ask you 'Aprilia ? Whats that?'

Always been a fan of that bike. While not as hard edge as an Rc for example, it is surely a much better real-world ride. Enjoy!

Oh SNAP!

Why don't the Danes play hide and seek? Because nobody wants to look for them.

I have to say, I was swayed slightly in grabbing this one. I surprisingly found myself with a girlfriend, she's pretty hardcore (a couple of 300+ mile days on the RC), but I think this'll be better for both of us.

I'm also curious to take her apart and check out that Rotax engine. Never worked on one before... And as far as the color, no idea, Cool-Aid Lava Red?

I seriously considered buying a Futura back in 01. Also looked at the Sprint...but I bought a VFR instead. I'm sure the Ape has a little more power than the VFR and the looks are simular. I wish I would have rode one.....nice bike.....congrats.

After reading up on the Futura, seemed like the Staintunes were the pipes of choice, with the H Pipe. 2 Cats on that thing in the OEM system, none now

And actually, I didn't even know Termi made systems for the Futura?

Bump for a new "new ride"...

2011 Speed Triple SE

Loads of fun, I think C-4 had it though, the Futura just didn't do it for me... Plus, after our little one was born a few months ago my usual passenger hasn't felt comfortable riding much. So, I went for a more solo riding friendly bike.

So far the thing is an absolute blast to ride. Nice riding position, although I miss having clip-ons, the handle-bar seems a little too upright, especially when riding aggressively. There are options out there though, we'll see.

I was expecting the exhaust note to be a little more fun, hearing that triples sounded great. Its a little boring, but its still got the stock exhaust, probably not a fair assessment until I uncork it.

Suspension comes pretty soft, gotta adjust that too.

Not bad, although not really my taste. Here's an 'atta boy' for trying something new though. It took a low side before I'd even whack the mud flap off my RC, and it'll probably take a total loss before I'd depart from it, although my thoughts have wandered toward other bikes here and there.

Hey RIRC51,

The ONLY thing I dislike about the newer Speed Triples is> ? (I think it started in 2005?) is that STUBBY Ass friggin' Tail section! ala Buel

You are correct Sir,... about it NOT being fair how she sounds stock, Trust me here. Because when (IF) You Uncork her... You'll be BLOWN Away! Have you not ever heard one before..>?
To this day, I can NOT drive it easy for more then 3 or 4 min., cause She just beggs to be Flogged, for the sound alone is intoxicating! My suggestion to You is... Leave it stock because You're going to be in Trouble other wise! HAHhhahaaa

Enjoy,... Hey, She's got a sweet paint job brother?!

Ride safe RIRC51
