Except in the U.S. (and Canada?) the "RC51" is officially the RVT1000R.

I am an arrogant, wanna-be aristocrat and would prefer if my 2-wheel conveyance be referred to in its' full and proper name please.
RC51 RVT-1000R SP1
For what it is called in other parts of this world, I care not.
Thank you very much and good day, sirs.

You sir are correct. Thats exactly what I refer to mine as, except its the SP2 model for me.
RC51 RVT1000R SP2
Thats even how it appears on my Insurance, sans the SP2 designation.

I know of course both, or all three if you want, are correct.
I was more after which name it was most known under.
Came up in the T-shirt thread, whether it should read RC51 or VTR1000 SP on one of the design.

RC51 for sure, although at Indy this year, the guy at the speed tent was talking with Edwards and referred to it as the "SP"

LOL... That's how I mostly refer to mine as SP2 and or SP2RKT < tag>
Although, I do call her RC51 at times as well as RVT and even VTR...

I call mine "The Evil Twin". It's an RC51. The VTR is the Super Hawk here in the states.

I never understood why they labelled it "VTR" in Europe/Japan/Australia in the first place, since there is the "regular" VTR (Superhawk in the US I guess) also. IMO it should've been RVT here as well (in line with RVF/RC45, "Racing V-Four" vs "Racing V-Twin). In Finland, these beasts are called "SP's", to differentiate them from the regular VTR's. If I ever have to change/repaint my fairings, I will most definitely go with the US style RC51/1000R stickers.

Yeah Honda's naming of the bike is strange , but I prefer RC-51 for its historical link to the other , LESS successful RC superbikes . No brainer . VTR ?! No fvcking way .
