There's quite a few people that swear by the Sato's, but they're pretty spendy if you're on a budget. I think someone on this board (bryanboo...) may be running these, so his opinion may be more useful. I'm planning on eventually picking up the woodcraft ones, which are pretty similar in price to these.
My guess is these would work OK on the street, but I would worry about ever finding replacement parts if you went down at the track.
i have sato's and they are nothing too special compared to the likes of say rizoma and even arata
i also own vortex and others and would say fuk sato they are for looks or you have to be rich to race them
special ordered mine in black for my RC30 and got silver and was told another two month wait for the color i had purchased to begin with, super support there

My suggestion to you is keep making good parts, keep getting more customers, take care of them and let them speak for you."

The Sato's are good quality, but expensive to buy and replace parts on. If you are on a budget, I'd vote for the Woodcraft's. They are not adjustable, but you are going to mount adj rearsets at their high/back position anyways. Thats where the Woody's put the pegs to begin with. Woodcrafts are what I'm buying when I get rearsets.

I think mine are a different brand. Can't remember what exactly, but are very similar. I have not had any trouble from them thus far. I have not crashed them yet so we'll have to see how they hold up in that respect. The only neg. I have noticed so far is that the anodizing or whatever it is is rubbing off just a bit on the heel gaurd. I could buy 3 sets of them for the price of the Sato's so I went the Thailand ones. Not dissapointed yet.
i'd steer clear of these knock offs... i know a guy who ran a set of a chinese knock off rearsets on his 600rr race bike... the shift knuckle snapped during a trackday in reno fernley (we live in alberta, canada). thankfully it was the last session.
he then got another set of knockoffs from some local guy and he's having problems AGAIN with them...
he's kicking himself for not just spending the money in the first place and buying top notch rearsets.
I think you should not buy these Thai Sato knock-offs. The "Compare identical items at over $300 from other sellers" claim is b/s if by that they mean the real thing - we are not talking apples and apples here. Go with the Vortex or Woodcraft as others have suggested.
On a budget and the bike is raced?
Get WR's Battle Steps, there are usually good deals on the Internet.
Not the best lookers but these are 100% race products made by people who have an actual idea of what they are doing. No frills but very sturdy and track tested.
Steer clear of Walter Motos though: every sigle person I know who fitted them to the SP ended up trying to flog them after a few months.
Woodcraft are good quality, price and you can get parts. They are very tough also.

Marky mark mark...oh my. Maybe its because I've used them for over 20 years on different bikes and have never had a issue with them?
I know you can't wait to send one of your witty little combacks. Go ahead there little fella.
sato has not made rearsets for 20 years but have at it tough guy
this has nothing to do with issues, i have not heard anything bad about them either and i own some They are stoopidly expensive and are that way because people are sheep and most follow the others. I the high end market of rearsets satos are near the bottom. I currently own rizomas for a few bucks more then my own satos and i can tell you from FACT the rizomas make the satos look silly and cheap. If i were looking for above $500 sets for my next bike and carbon fiber was not available sato would not be my first choice, they are nice but more like $399 nice not $500
in 1999 you could not have sold a sato product here for half of that but thanks to DK and Mike they are a household name now. The way they has stopped making parts and exhausts for bike models only a couple of years old now shows their lack of support and i have been pukked and unhappy some with every single sato part i have bought with one thing or another. i spend a hefty chunk on dough each year on mods and i can tell you sato products IMHO are chummped up past their actual value, you are paying 30% more just because of the name

I like my cycle cats so much they sit in a box.
I crashed my satos and I had parts in two days like $125.00 for a R.H. step peg and toe peice.
Open the pdf file for a breakdown of parts.
That # is Ken of orient express but I get my stuff from some guy in CA.
get a set used off gay bay
you also got everypart there is cheaper then dealer cost too
i have had two people contact me about sato muffler parts you said you got for a price and in a timeframe they said DK said they could not get for that price or within that timeframe, what gives?

I like my Gilles a lot but I got them second hand for like $300. In all honesty if I were a privateer racer I would use the Woodcrafts. I think the Gilles and Satos and the like are functionally great, but also a little bit for looks on the street with all the color options.
My friend has Satos on his GSXR and comparing them to the Gilles I think the Gilles are better IMO.
