I wouldn't buy them..unless you can buy two sets..

Here is why..if you go down getting the parts would suck. I really like Sato but I own two sets of Mori.

If you track the bike then go with Vortex...

One thing about Sato is the pegs are not as grippy as say Vortex..but the Vortex will eat the bottom of your boots if you use your pegs a lot.

Tha Satos are nice, they fit perfectly, and they grip the living shit out of the soles of your boots. Best peg ever.

i have had two people contact me about sato muffler parts you said you got for a price and in a timeframe they said DK said they could not get for that price or within that timeframe, what gives?
I'll be honest Mark. When I started this obsession with my 51 I made my first purchases from Dan and paid full retail like $1150 for my low mount set-up, I had the bike a week and it NEEDED it (pre-zilla) the pc3usb was $250 and when it was time for fork springs internals and an ohlins rear I beleive he decieded I was not finished shopping there and cut me a great deal on the link and shock then when I scratched my cans and sent them down for sleeves and packing in '05 (they had been misplaced in winter during their move) Liz sent me a NEW set of c/f rounds FREE and then Dan loaned me a beat-up set for my first track day
When I got the airbox fitted I got a quickshifter from them cheap and had it set up on the dyno then came the steering damper and a new set of marchisinis my 520 set-up HRC pads ss lines ETC. At A great price !
As far as service goes there was a thread about radial play in the marchi cush drives so Liz gave me the name and the direct # to the U.S. sorce, the replacement rubbers were sent out free of charge quickly.
I had my eye on some gilles chain adjusters and Alex told me not to buy them they fail, He could have made a sale but had my best interest in mind.

As a matter of fact I was discussing the matter of running a quickshifter with a pc3r with Wheeler last night and what can be done to get timing adjustibility and the Q/S utility he was very informative and said flat out that motec stuff was way too expensive ETC.

Now to adress your post "on someone elses thread"

I crashed,I called kyle,I always ask Liz what she's wearing tell her what I broke she puts Dan or Alex on the phone to take my order and presto I get a quote and parts " last time I didn't even have my credit card " Alex told me to call-up and pay whenever !

So if your experience was different than mine that's a shame they are mebbie the best at what they do IMHO.

B.T.W. I LOVE-IT when the U.P.S. lady shows-up !!!

Receipts anyone ?

JACK OVER AND OUT !

Default Thanks

Thanks everyone. First I am not going to track this bike for awhile. I will get a beater 600 first. I need a rearset that includes the foot peg and foot brake since I broke both of those. I found a complete rear brake rearset for 80 on Gay bay. I may go that way to get it up and legal. I think when I have a complete set of stockers I will move to woodcraft. My buddy owns www.trackstar1.com and can hook it up for me. Thanks for your time and saving me from another dollar stealing piece of rice crap.

I modded mine with a dremel to reduce the edge.

Open the pdf file for a breakdown of parts.
That # is Ken of orient express but I get my stuff from some guy in CA.

get a set used off gay bay
Two things:

1) Jesus Christ... those Cats are hot as hell.

2) I have had good luck with no name rears. I grabbed a set from a now-defunct company called One Second Faster (OSF) for a Gixxer I had for a while and was super happy with them. In fact, I still have 'em squirrled away with a ton of other RC parts.

To opine on this subject, I would save some cash for a while to get decent brand ones, like Satos (currently installed). The support, long-term quality, longevity of the company and dealer network are definitely worth something.

Honda VTR1000 RVT1000R RC51 SP1 SP2 Adj Billet Rearsets:eBay Motors (item 120446419908 end time Aug-09-09 02:43:03 PDT)

I looked at these also... tempting.. but alot of little disclaimers make me think "$470 for satos or another. .. or these +price of these +customs $$ + what I SHOULD have got when they are "lost in shipping" which is NOT their problem." Sounds sketchy to me.. but tend to be cautious of even $200.

Will send a spreadsheet I was putting together on pricing I pulled for different rearsets (and some other things I was looking for like ASV levers and undertail).. if you want or can use it. Some links have good reviews of the different sets.

Woodcraft Im sure are ok.. but they fuggly.. sorry.. functional.. but fuggly. . And I think you have to use your stock levers (and my brake is bent.. part of why Im replacing to start with).

I have had a number of rearsets in my hands, the Sato's are very nice, but some of my favorite ones were the Vortex on my track RC51, great position, good looks and worked well.

There will be some new rearsets on the market shortly that will take on the Vortex!! Stay tuned!
