Default Barber Double Fatality!!!!!

A female racer and a corner worker were killed yesterday during a WERA practice session. Evidently the corner worker walked out on a hot track to pick up a knee puck and was struck by the rider at 110. This is just screwed up.

My thoughts go out to the families.

Hey Bryan, I got to Barber Sat morn for my mandatory 2 race weekend Provisional Novice race.....there was definately a somber mood there. Details are kind of sketchy....just a freak accident..... VERY sad.

Default ***Updated Information***

I did my first track day on Sunday with Sport Bike Track Time at Tally. SBTT uses a company Corners by ???? I forget the last word, but they are the same people doing the corners at Barber the day of the accident. They said that a rider hit a bird and was uninjured. However the dead bird was on the track. The corner worker decided to go onto the hot track and attempt to remove the dead bird and was struck by a rider at speed. Both the rider and the corner worker died. The original rider who hit the bird is fine.

It sounds like there was a communication issue. Do the workers not have radio's or flags? Any corner post person responsible for a location should have atleast a red, and yellow flag or color designation that meets with sanctioned flag settings.

My Brother and a friend were there doing the Ed Bargy school that weekend and they were told it was a communication failure. Radios were down or something.

Shook everyone up a lot from what they say. Terrible tragedy, and I wish their families well.
