Default Smoke

Before I post my question let me say I am a proud owner of an 02 rc51 but I recently purchased an 06 zx10r w/3800 miles the previous owner was a mature family man who took very good care of the bike. The bike has akrapovic exhaust and a power commander, when I give the bike a quick rev and the bike slowly returns to normal idle I get a small greyish puff of smoke out of the pipes, if I rev it constantly I get nothing, when the bike starts or is running I get no smoke, just happens if I give it a quick rev and let it come back to normal idle, some say it's normal but I wanted to get you guys opinion. By the way the reason I didn't post in a kaw forum is because I feel the majority of people on those sites don't seem to have any real knowlege other than how fast there bikes are, unlike this forum which always seemed to have helpful info about my rc. Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.

My guess is that your FI is mapped a little rich off the bottom and that puff is just a little excess fuel.

Oh, hold on, does this smoke appear when the bike is returning to idle speed? Question: Is the bike warmed up? Its still a little cool outside where you are, right? You just might be seeing water vapour.

I'm starting to guess now so I'll stop.

Im in ny it's still a little cool here but i don't think it's water vapor, the bike is warm when it does this and only when it's returning to idle, I was thinking the same thing that the mapping might be a little rich on the power commander

Does the smoke have a smell like fuel or oil?
It could be a leaky valve stem seal.

I think it smells more like fuel but it's not a strong smell, the thing is that if there was a problem with the valves or seals wouldn't it always smoke, like I said before I could rev the bike steady up to 4-5k and nothing happens but if i give it a quick rev and let go of the throttle once it comes down to no normal rpms it gives me that small puff of smoke.

Ditto: try unplugging the PC (or load the zero map from the PC website), put some fresh fuel in it and take her for a ride. Then let us know.
