Default Newbie/lurker checking in

I registered right after Christmas and today my account got verified so I figured I would stop in and say hi. I picked up an '02 RC with 5,500 miles on it for $3,900 a couple months ago. According to the owner, bike has never been down or anything but he did paint it flat black (looked good) and covered it with some sort of Edwards sponser decal set (looked not so good). After I got the stickers off you cold still see where they were...so I decided to "make it my own". So as we speak the plastics are sitting here next to me, in my room, with primer on them waiting for some Arrest Me Red. It was alot of work peeling all those stickers off!!!!

Does anybody know what tail kit this is????

I plan on going to the track several times this year, and thats what the Honda will be for. For the street, I have an '05 Z1000 that I absolutly LOVE. I bought it in '07 with 0 miles on it. Now it has 15,000 and even took me to Sturgis last summer on a 4,000 mile round trip. I also have a Mustang but since I bought the Z, bikes have taken over the stang .

welcome... you have the wrong board for 'stangs, LOL. The 5.0s are the classics IMO. I had a 95 Cobra convert for a year or so, 56K stock. Great toy, traded it for the current 2004 RC...

Ride safe.

Yeah I used to be on Stangnet all the time, but now the bike bug has bitten. If I ever had to sell my toys, the car would be the last to go!

That sticker kit was GOD aweful and we all thank you for getting it off the road. It looked to be a combo of the 02' castrol and 02' castrol laguna seca special edition. It would be better if on CF bodywork and cleared over to look like a pre-season test bike pic.

I was hoping to hear something like that, I felt as though I was doing the bike a favor too, haha. The bike will be all red, but to break all that red up, I was considering putting some factory decals back on. The only thing I've been able to find is a generic set on ebay. I was thinking black, but would white look better?

Sweet looking Z.....
I traded mine for my RC, I miss it on long rides, but that v-twin just puts a smile on my face every time I ride it.

Here's my old z

Very nice. I always like the greenies, real eye catchers. Cops usually don't take notice of my boring Ti though lol. I took the Gilles rearsets off...didn't like them one bit. Looked nice and would of been nice for the track, but fitment was poor.

The two bikes are two completely different animals, thats for sure. I've only been able to ride the RC once since I got it. I need some nice weather so I can lay some paint, then I can throw it back together.

I think the black with white shadow would look pretty good, does your friend have a website or anything?

Pretty much finished. The sticker kit that I got also came with some decent sized "HONDA" stickers, but didn't they just put those on the SP-1's??? I think I'm going to leave them off. As far as cosmetics goes, I think in the future I'm going to get ahold of MRGRN and order a carbon fiber exhaust hanger, as I have no use for the passenger pegs. I also may need one of his GP cans, as I think my Jardine is leaking a bit.

I just did the #520 15/41 conversion last week, bike feels alot better. I also just ordered a speeohealer today, and I still need to get a PCIII USB on there as well. Next winter I'll be looking at having the forks rebuilt, and also a Brembo M/C with some steel lines.

What do you guys think? Its not perfect, but I think its better than what I started with.

Thanks, its better, still has some issues. I just noticed I should of angled the 'RC51' decal downward a little more, guess it doesn't look too bad though.

You rode a Jap bike deep into the heart of Hardley-land... brave man! Mind you, it's not like any of the posers could have caught you if they had wanted to "discuss" matters, lol
