move the gas under the seat and then create a shell (or just the plastics of the tanks) out of the cbr1000 gas tank that molds with the rc51 airbox bingo bango that shit would be tits...
not this year. i'm working on a different airbox with a couple ideas but is going to take some time so this season i'll ride it with the oem tanks and airbox
Have you thought about using the 07-09 600rr upper?
It already has the snorkel in the middle.
I did but the upper is not as long as it needs to be.
main reason why i want to keep it all from the same bike and as stock as possible is because in a event of a crash (i'm a control rider for a trackday club) i would replace it very easy.

Hey Wilson, what do you mean by this? Where is it not long enough?
Thanks for doing my R&D work for me. I had been looking at the ABS plastics on eBay for the 07 1krr's over the past couple months and had planned on doing this same thing! Already had my radiator idea planned out.
I had looked somewhat quickly at a friends fairing while he had it off and just knew it would work. It just looked like it would mostly line up
Tell me, if you could. Will the headlights work or will the snorkel get in the way?
I know you didn't ask me, and I don't have any concrete answer, but it looks like race bodywork will fit fine, with the exception of the radiators. However, from looking at the pics with the street bodywork, I don't think the headlights will fit. I think the ram air snorkle is too wide and it will interfere with clearance for the lights...
looks good! props for trying it out and posting up pics for all to see the transformation along the way.
I agree with some of the idea's about matching the tank to the bodywork. Have you though about putting something in the gap created where what's left of the RC tail and the cbr tail don't meet?
Oh, and for those of us who don't know everything about CBR's, what year body work is this? It's a 1000 or a 600? I don't even know the years that they updated them as I am a convert from the evil Yamaha camp

my : dremel It does look a little close, but you might be able to clearance the lights a little and make some room. There is usually a lot of space in the enclosure between the actual reflector and the back/sides of the housing, so there might be enough room if you are creative and good with plastics. But I am in the same boat as you, just shooting from the hip on that one.

from the bottom of the ram air to the to of the screen due to the angle is very short (leaving my head exposed).
i'm 5'8" 165 lbs, could you picture the air flow? anything shorter would leave me exposed to much.
with this bodywork (cbr1000RR) there's almost not much to work to make it fit.
i don't have the pics on this computer but i'll post them later tonight. you would have to trim in just 4 parts and add the ram air (i'm going to make a mold in an event of future replacement).

Reason: picture added
the headlights won't fit but you could get a set of aftermarket projector from the HRC bike (endurance) and install it, i'm 100% sure that fits and it would work great mounted on the ram air.

about the gap between the seat and the frame, the subframe is getting covered in the near future with undertail all the way to the front covering the subframe as well as the electronics and a couple other future mods that are going to end under there.
the upper, mids and lowers are from a CBR1000RR 06-07 and they are just crashed plastics that i used to make sure they fit before ordering a set of fiberglass (on the way already) so i don't spend money on stuff if it didn't work.
once the raceglass is here and finished then the entire bike is getting painted including the tank.

Wow this just put it in perspective I am definitely doing this so cool looking squids will be so freaked out when I roll up on them and I wont freak out about finding oem rc51 plastics when I crash!

LOL, yeah, OEM RC plastics are not getting any easier to find this days.
cbr race glass for me,satin black.easier to sort snorkel too as glass is fairly easy to work with.have rc glass fibre with front cut out for rads at the mo
