This place was ALWAYS full of squids...they just kept well hidden , even when they were in plain sight...
Most of the ' old timer's ' have become the lurkers now and the newer RC owners have stepped forward...that's the way these chatrooms work...remember .net ?
Enjoy your time in the sun Squids...

Duane, the fact remains. When you go to ANY other site and throw - up in your mouth instantaneously.
You'll realise this is the least squidliest.
P.S. great body position.
P.P.S. thank-you for serving

fourms
I too think that this is a good fourm. I signed up for 51.org but Hardly go there this one is much more entertaining. I think that the old timers are a just a "little" cranky sometimes. Now come on anyone who is a fan of or a owner of a 51 has gotta be smarter than the average joe, squid or not. I think the newbs go through the same growing pains as you all did. I wanted a 51 from the get go but I took me untill a month ago to finally get one. So of course I wonder about all the old stuff but I think a little patience goes a long way.

I guess I can chime in now. I came over from a Fizzer forum (95 fzr600) an I appreciate all the help and tips I got there. This Is my first RC and knowing very liitle about the bike going throught the forums is the best place to learn. I don't consider myself a squid and I've yet to do a track day. But if I can learn about the bike the easy way as opposed to doing something stupid and fixing it the hard way. That is the whole purpose of me and a lot of people for being here. Besides, I was told my bike can do 218mph. How would I prove it otherwise if some fellow owner didn't correct me?

docshorty, there are MANY here like you, myself included. I don't own one piece of leather (except gloves), I don't do trackdays (though I'd like to try it), I commute most of the miles on my bike, do some street group rides with racers, stunters, sport tourers, etc. and generally just enjoy getting out of the house and riding. I own an RC-51 because it is a badass Honda with some real racing heritage, and it stands out in a crowd. I've even talked to supposed 'Honda Guys' that don't know what an RC-51/45/30 is. It's OK to simply enjoy our bikes without canyon carving or racing them...it really is!

Why didn't I get a touring bike?...Oh yeah, this thing is F*@#ING COOL!

Yes, the good old days are over. What are you gonna do?
I've been around since the dawn of the RC51 forums. All the way back to the LDH, Philip Lawrence, RC90, days. That's Motorush forum days.
Not so much learning now but it's still a good time. Although I would say the Classifieds and the Search are the most important features of the board now.
One thing is you can get an RC for 4,000 bucks now. When they were going for 11k in 2000 there weren't any squids with them. Now anyone can buy one.

So, I apologize to everyone if I offended.
I posted this after a few beers and (I know this has nothing to do with this site) arriving home from a ride where I had to pull over and put pressure and bandages on a car drivers head to stop severe bleeding for over an hour, till he was air lifted, after a SQUID tried to pass on a mountain road at over 100 mph and a un-straped helmet. Yes his helmet popped off and he met a few trees. I was just in one of those moods and thinking about what motorcyclist like that do for our sport.
All though I have to admit this thread is entertaining.

Sorry to hear about your shitty day. But look at it this way, if it had not been you then that person might not have made it at all. Life has a funny way of showing us things. And I give ya some props for the man up apology. Sounds like it is not easy being you, but your doing a great job at it.

no its not, wy else have it?
OT its not nice to see you poke your ugly head up out of the mud.
maybe if the secret vote on "the other" site passes, the yungins will smell more of you here.
FWIW, this off season has been better than the last few. not near as much personal fighting this winter.
i will continue to lurk, and pop in or off from time to time

How long have you been in Colorado? I was there from 1998- Jul 2005 tearing up PMP, Second creek, and PPIR. Along for most all of Bash's Canyon stomps. I don't remember ever meeting you. We knew all the RC owners in that area.

Well, keep in mind that the RC is no longer in production. So each RC sold today is a used RC. With that comes the chance that these used RC's have already been mod'd. This isn't to mention that maybe it already has aluminum or magnesium wheels, after market exhaust, ss lines, etc... So with each sold used RC we will see fewer and fewer questions regarding mods and more concerning aesthetics. Lastly, given the reliability of Honda's, the ratio of broken down posts to cosmetics post will always side in favor of cosmetics.
With a bike this "old", the questions are bound to change there scope.

I hear you. Perrsonly I'm thinking it has become the cheap, but cool sportbike so the general masses are flocking to it. Hell you can by a modded one for under $5000. I can't believe some are buying it as a first bike . At that price it becomes the bike to have for someone with thier options weighed by money and lack of what is best for them, common sence. I think I'm getting me one of these European 2 smokers while I'm here.
