Default Anyone tried the BT002?

I'm contemplating getting a set for the next track day. I'm usually a supercorsa/pilot race type of guy but i'd like some feedback from you guys on what you thought of them. Thanx!

I love the BT-002s. When I had a dedicated RC trackbike I ran those and Power Races and I preferred the 002. They are also very affordable. You can find the BT-002 race/street tires at around $260 a set for 120/70 & 180/55 combo. You can find the pure race 002s for around $275-300 a set. Those are great prices for race tires. Bridegestone makes a great tire IMO...

Remember, there is an R (race) version and an RS (racing street?). But they look the same.

Can these tire manufacturers try and confuse us simpleton's anymore?

My friend has run them on his '04 R1 for track days. He compares them to the Power Race by saying they have similar stick, with a little quicker tip in. Also, they are quite tall so check your clearance.

I've never run them personally but I would like to try the RS as I've seen them for around $240. I guess that's similar to the Pilot Power.

If someone else could chime in that would be great.

I tried a set of BT002 DOT race tires. I couldn't get them off my bike fast enough. The front kept tucking and the feedback wasn't very good. I always loved the Dunlop 209GP but ended up trying the Michelin PRC front with a PR5 rear. I shaved 2 seconds off of my fastest times on ANY other tire (I've tried pretty much all of 'em) within just a couple of sessions. Personally I didn't like the older Michelins but now that they've changed the carcass design it's waaaay better. The Michelins aren't much more than the Bridgstones either.

I just tried a set of the BT 002 RS (Racing Streets) at Spring Mountain ,Pahrump, NV, about 108 degrees. The tires were slipping quite a bit. I had a near high side coming out of a turn when the rear gave away without any warning. If the rear wasn't sliding, the front felt like tucking. I was running 32 psi front and 30 rear. Maybe it was just too hot.

I think they are a great track day tyre but a crappy road tyre. They give no feedback when cold so the use of tyre warmers is a must.

I get x4 Phillip Island track days out of them running avg 1m55 lap times.

I have the BT002RS on my RC but have only put 50 or so miles on it so I can't really tell you much about it. I switched to these from the BT014.

I've been reading recommendations of 28f/28r as start values for track work.

I've raced the 002s for 3 years and love them. Good wear and predictable performance: they'll slide if you abuse them but not put you over the highside when they hook back up.
I've done 3 race weekends on my RC this season with the 002s. I was on a ZX6R previously. I'm using a hard rear and a soft front. Got 2 weekends out of a set which is unreal for an RC; I think the key was going to the hard rear. It sticks fine if you get it on the warmer and can take the abusive torque put out by the RC.

Anybody running the BT002 street compounds on the street? Looking to try them out away from the track... any opinions? Likes/Dislikes, i want it all!

Front tire on the RS is a dual compound i believe, but the rear is not.

the pilot powers seem to be slipping around on me a lot lately, and my buddy keeps talking them up so I thought i'd get opinions from you guys as well.

I've tried both the 002 RS and the 002 Pros.

The 002 RS doesn't last as long as the Michelins but are ok for the canyons. When you start to abuse them, they will slide.... predictably.

I've also ridden the 002 Pros and I swear by them. Best tires I've used so far. I can brake very late into the apex and they just stick like there is no tomorrow. These are excellent tires for the track and canyon. However, I only got about 800 miles from a set.

Which ever set you get, make sure to get 190/55 rears. Screw that 180 stuff.

So they'll slide just like the michelins and be probably as predictable... dang man... well i guess i'll keep the idea of trying them and maybe it wont be as bad as the pilots, besides i like the price. I wish I could find something that would bite in to the street pavement a bit more without going to a race tire. Thanks for the input
