Default Anyone know the going rate for a dan kyle fork rebuild?

His site isnt up and hasnt been for a while now.

Don't feel like calling him up just to ask for a price. Just need to know how much I need to save in the next few weeks.

Thanks.

I can't remember the exact number, but I think it was in the ballpark of $450 this past winter, including shipping.

I believe that is about right. 450$ if you need springs, 350$ if you don't.

Actually the price I quoted was without springs. All I had done was the basic fork service, new fork oil, polish everything, etc. I included a letter basically telling them to "set me up" and call if they needed additional payment for any extra parts. I got the forks back a couple weeks later, no other parts needed.

It was about $420-430 + shipping, IIRC. I've slept a few times and drank a beer or 3 since then though, so I might be way off. You guys probably get the super secret discount or something though.

No I didn't get a super secret price, I had my work done in 2003. Prices have probably changed, along with shipping costs which were probably not in the "quote" anyways.
Sorry If I mislead anyone.

That would explain it, I know there was at least one price increase only a month or 2 before I sent mine off, and that was right around the beginning of 07'. Might have been more than 1 increase. Regardless, it was worth it to me for the single reason that I knew they weren't going to some hack that didn't know the difference between fork oil and gear oil. They were nasty looking when sent off, and looked like they came off a fresh RC upon return

Stupid question, but what does polishing do? And what exactly are they polishing?

Also, what all is involved with the price minus springs? And wouldnt springs be required for anyone not 165 lbs?

It all depends...how much you weigh (I'm 190 with gear) and how you ride...street or track...and what shock/link you have in the back end.

I had my local suspension guy set up the suspension at the track...
Said all I need was a bit stiffer springs out front. (I'm running Ohlins 10.0 spring on the shock with a Varium link)...

Of course, every suspension guy has his own ideas/method...I like to support my local businessmen when I can...

So what I'll probably do next is to pull the forks, and change out the oil and springs myself, then see how it handles from there.

No shipping involved (except waiting for the UPS man to bring my new springs), and about $110 for springs and oil.

Only a couple hours of down time and back on two wheels.

Dan Kyle did my forks in July - the total price was $400 and in my case he threw in supply of 2 OEM springs to replace the ?? ones that were in there and re-springing Professor X's old Ohlins rear shock for my weight: 165 lbs. Satisfied customer.

Has anyone actually bench tested the stock SP2 springs to check the weight?
Racetech calculator says stockers are 1.0
Inquiring minds want to know...

I talked to Dan about 2 weeks ago on this. He said 400 with out springs 500 with. I am pretty sure this did not include shipping.....
