Default mohawks?

hrmmm... I just got back last month from a 9 month deployment and it seems as though 90% of the sport bike riders here in Southern California are wearing mohawks...

Has this fad caught on in the rest if the country already or are our bikers just terminally stupid?

I think 90% of so cal sportbike riders are probably terminally retarded. I've never seen it though I've seen pics of people in Florida doing that too. I guess it's a plus that they're even wearing helmets there...

I'm all for the no helmet law... so long as the state isn't required to keep you on life support.

The gene pool needs a little chlorine now and again.

FYI, there are members on this board who should be able to answer your question. And no it's not me, if I wanted a mohawk, I'd grow a real one.

LOLLLLLLLLL A squid with the same kind of mohawk on his helmet just died in my hometown while doing a standup that went horribly wrong. Just thought it was ironic as supersquids usually have such retarded helmet trinkets.

Sidenote: CherokeeKid isn't included due to the heritage exemption.

I thought you meant real Mohawks for a minute instead of the stick-on kind. I've got one of those that I wear every now and then for shits and giggles. People point and smile, and probably think I'm crazy, but that's why I wear it! You've gotta be a little crazy to be 55 years old and lived through 2 divorces, the 70's, cancer and daily life!

This plague has been spreading like wildfire unfortunately. It seems more and more riders around here are doing that.

I think its part of that whole "rebel thing" ...... One question. IF you are supposed to be a rebel, why do you ALL look the SAME?

That goes for the "Hardcore Harley Biker" as well!

Looks like that pic is on the back of a cruiser...
Personally, I save my money for more important things like tires and track days...

I've had the mohawk for a year now, that was when it really wasn't all that popular in so cal. I did it just to be a lil different from all my buddies when we would all go riding, be it cruzing on the streets, or in the canyons.

But I have noticed that a lot of riders are getting them more and more, so Im about to ditch mine.

A mohawk is a hairstyle whereby all the head is shaved except a stripe down the middle. It is worn by a surprising variety of people, from working professional's to homeless anarchist junkies. It is normally worn in order to make a statement against society, and simply to say to the world at large "hey, I'm gonna do what I want, and look how I want to". Contrary to many peoples misconception that anyone with a mohawk is either a drop out or an unthinking exhibitionist, in general thay seem to be eloquent, intelligent people who won't simply lay down and go with the flow. Surely it takes more creativity to be original than to copy the crowd.
The original idea behind a mohawk was that if you get scalped whilst wearing one then all your enemy will get is a thin stripe of hair and skin. The Mohawk Nation is a living sovereign nation, and part of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. It is also known as KANIEN'KEHAKA, and like most indian nations is still struggling for equal rights of trade and property. It is a shame that people who follow the examples of these native americans are treated with almost as much misunderstanding.
