So with the addition of the RC61 1200cc twin will Towsend (experienced on the Ducati twins) stay and will Colin be his team mate until Nicky steps down after his contract expires next year? All this comes as WSB is the best its been in a few years. Perhaps Honda was agitated enough to build just this to slap Dickati in the face one more time. This is good for those of us who like twins but Ducati whinning for rule changes because building I4's isn't part of thier core competency just hurts every other manufacture an more some small teams that can't aford to lease the exoctic newest machines. WSB is sure to be a series to follow but I would have liked to see the Desmodici V4 in that series. Which could be the last resort of Ducati when the field closes in.
So Dan Kyle surely wouldn't spend money if he was nearly certain of the RC61's production. That may be enough for many to start planning for a new twin. How many of you will stand in line for one and who will sell thier RC51 for the bigger twin?
The RC51 wouldn't be worth selling if there was a new kid in town....
Just look what happened to the 999, you can pick them up in the uk for a mear £5000 (or less) now...
MY RC51 is only worth £4000 tops with all the spares etc...
Not worth selling.... IMO
I would consider a 1200 SP8 (RC61)
*the SP8 was just a guess... but sounds right...
I think that Honda should build one, just because it can and put Edwards on it again to kick the duc's ass..... again.. that would be too funny to be true!

why would dan not spend $20 for those just for a small chance they might make that bike. you make it seem like domain names are expensive or something

my view on the dropping of 999 prices is that the design was liked as much so when a new better all around bike was released noone wanted the 999. The prices of the 916/996/998 were never hurt by the release of either bikes though. I'm not so sure the rc51 price would plummet

It's a bike that hasn't chnaged in 5+ years in design or development....?
If Honda made a SP1/2/3/4/5/6/7 (like they don't) then maybe the prices wouldn't be seen to hurt so much...
Ducati, on the other hand just change the engine size by 1-2 cc and it's a totally new bike
A friend of mine brought a 998 a while ago when they first came out and he said to the dealership... 'whats the difference between the 996 and 998?', the dealer replied '2cc mate!'

yeah but look at how much they're still going for. I'm not claiming the rc51 would be able to hold it's value as well as they have but I don't think what happened to the 999 will happen with the rc51 if such a bike was released.
what's the possibility that the RC61, if indeed it exists, is not a v-twin but a v-five instead? a-la rc211v street take off. besides, if honda in their infinite wisdom does release a new sport twin and the RC51 does take a price dump, fine by me, I've been wanting a second one for a track bike for some time now.....
the powers to be @ Honda will not make a V anyhting so this is all talk. they can use the CBR to race and sell so this fantasy of the days of yesteryore are weak deams at best.
I do hope they build one but would bet a limited expensive unit over another bike they can race along the CBR is the bike they would make and $40k sounds like the price so for most of us that is a big nut to crack

I made a couple joke posts some time back... 2008 RC62. LOL, RC61... close though.
If a a new v-twin superbike that Honda makes... hopefully will 86 the side rads.
