anyone fitted a tacho/rev counter?

I'm trying to fit a translogic dash to mine mine but having problems getting the rev display to read anything..... any help PLEASE!!!

It says I need to find the negative ground ignition signal wire or cdi ignition wire but I thought I had but it doesn't work.... anyone know which wires these are??

Cheers for that! I used a workshop manual to find the wires I was after but it still doesn't seem to work right!
