Ok, as some of you know I'm addicted to heroi.... i mean trackdays.
So far I have done Pocono east and north and Summit Shenandoah.
Ultimately I wanted to do 3 track days this year ( i leave for the military for 3 weeks ) but i was thinking of doing 1 more. For me anything that we (me and friends) have to drive and sleep over the nite before is far. Poconos is a one day trip for me. Summit was 2 days 1 night.
So heres the deal?
Do I do one more far track day ( anything from 3-8 hours ) Beaver Run/mid ohio/New Hampshire..
or do i do 2 track days at Poconos? I want to definately attend Pocono Fusa and either North/east again??? Preference on East
suggestions?
Info?
Pix?
Is 2 Pocono days worth more then 1 other place?

Let me know what you decide to do. I am going to Pocono East this Friday and want to do another track day soon. I keep hearing that Calabogie is the bomb! (Does anyone still say that anymore?)
Dave, I've ridden every track at Pocono numerous times. FUSA, North, East and West. My suggestion to you is to ride another track. I'm hearing a ton of good things about Calabogie in Canada. That's 6 hours to get to, the same as it'll take you to get to Beaver, and even closer then VIR, and only 2 hours farther then Summit. Closer for YOU..!!
Not to discredit Beaver, though. I hear it's nice as well. And how many of us can say we hate riding Beaver...??? Christ.....I LOVE BEAVER!!.
Summit main is nice, but skip the Jefferson course. Too small for the RC51, IMHO.
If you get a chance to ride Barber......by all means.......do it.
See the thing with Calabogie is that we want to go and stay for 2 or 3 days.. so me and the buds want to make a weekend out of it...
So i guess one Calabogie is better then 2 Poconos then...
One of the coaches from team promotion recommended Calabogie ( kirk) so i think its worth a shot.
Do we need passports?????????
And now that we are riding red group.. is a better feel of the track.. no clusters.. well not as bad as white... but a great pace where Im going to stay a while and master my technique...
Im looking at Aug 19th a sunday for Calabogie ( its designed for Gp huh )
....

Calabogie will require either a Passport, or a Birth Certificate. That's gonna change really soon, and you'll definitely need a Passport then and nothing else will be accepted. Not sure when that is though.....
I heard it's 27 turns, elevation changes and 40' wide almost all the way around. It sounds NICER then Barber, actually.........
IMO, as a new(ish) track day rider, going to the same track allows you to focus on your riding form and practice things like turn-in, braking points, turn types, etc., without having to concentrate on learning a new track each time out.
Also, if needed, it also allows you to get familiar with your bike (you'ld be surprised how many people crash because they jump on a new bike expecting it to behave exactly as their last bike... ).
Then again, what do I know as I'm old, slow and like to ride heavy, low HP twins that are also old and slow themselves (relative to the latest/lightest/fastest I4 machine)....

You know, Fred, after reading that, I HAVE to agree with you. I've ridden the East course more times then I care to admit, and I'm more comfortable there, then anywhere else.....
But we're old......so fast is what OTHER people are.
In Dave's (Warvet) defense, I recommended Calabogie, because I've seen Dave ride, and he not only has youth on his side, but he's picking this up quick, and is a fast learner. If we could just get him to stop doing the "Pee-pee Dance" and picking his nose, he'll be just fine......

You KNOW more Than I have Time to learn

Thanks Rigor .. that means alot coming from some one i try to immulate as a rider. I just want to have fun with this sport and enjoy it with my friends..
Ill keep you guys posted on to where i head out to.
ps Picking boogers is an art for me

guys - I attended a trackday at Calabogie 2 weeks ago.
bottom line: !!
there is not a single ripple, bump, seam anywhere on the track. it's downright spooky smooth. and it's 40' wide so there's tons of passing room and alternate lines. it's extremely technical with a lot of blind corners or linked corners so you don't get a mental rest anywhere during a lap. so much fun! the track has the added bonus of cleaning up your scrubs! my super corsa pros looked like new after the day.
pro6cycle (Pro 6 Cycle - Welcome) has days there aug 13/14 and sept 24/25 for $180 cdn. TPM is there Aug 18,19,20 for similar $$. I'll be attending one of the 2 Aug sessions. the track is an hour from my house so if anyone needs a place to stay - the offer has been extended.
oh - noise is an issue there. I barely passed tech (with cheating) with my Arrow 2-1 system which is medium loud I'd say as far as RC pipes go. A Yosh RS-3 got sent home. Though low mount Satos passed too?. I would bring a stock set of pipes if you have them just in case.
Just delivered some Ducati body work to a guy that has been prying on me to do Calabogie with him. I told him..no passport and he said that the whole idea of passport was primarily for flying. That you'd only need a drivers liscence. He did trembelant erlier this season and passed right through on a liscence.
Now the news stated a pushback for passport need and travel within North America and the Carribean. ????
Guessing the liscence will be enough.
I was also thinking that Calabogie was early July.........WRONG!
If it's the full circuit......that's 3.4 miles! ans the elevation changes look KEWL!
Hell, I'm going......!
Gonna do 2 days and bringing both bikes! (3 days is too much for this Ol' man)

I went two weeks ago, the place is great. Passports are not needed, they didn't even ask for my birf certificate of look in my trailer. If you go, bring everything you think you may need. There is no water, electricity, or shade. None. I'm going back next time TPM does a three day.
and I noticed alot of things near the edge of the track that can hurt people on bikes! Is it just me, or does anyone else see all the armco, tire walls, dirt piles, limited runoff etc?
