Default Out There - anyone keep their bike at a storage center?

I'm moving end of August/Sept. 1 closer to my job and it's pretty much guaranteed that I'll have to keep my bike in a storage center. If I can I'll find a place with storage nearby, a garage, or shed on the property but I'm not getting my hopes up in this area. I refuse to leave it outside. Just curious if anyone else is forced to do this and am wondering how you deal with it in terms of accessibility when you want to go for rides.

Default storage

i keep my RC in a storage locker. pain in the a. EVERYTIME i want to ride i have to park my car outside the storage place and then try to get back before it closes (8pm). at this point...i mostly ride on the track and probably 10X a year (other than track days). point being...if you ride more than that, its probably going to be a major pain. just my opinion.

the thing is though, what other choices do I have? There are a few places around with garages but they're $$$$$ though it's possible that I might. I'm not gonna leave it outside though. If it was my old superhawk I might've (I did in college). Riding during the week doesn't happen often since it's a pita getting on and off base here (that and I hate wearing the stupid orange vest).

If its during the summer just leave it outside and throw a cover over it. Otherwise if you plan to ride it on and off during the other seasons it is going to be a pain to have it at a storage locker

well we'll see. I'm still looking at maybe finding some roomates in a house, an apartment, condo with garage even though I'd prefer a place by myself. Oh well, gotta make a sacrifice somewhere...

Yeah man,... That's what I'd do,.... rent a house(To OWN!), with a garage...

Before I moved into my own 1st house, back in 1993, I had bought a brand new 1994 CBR900RR when I was living in an appartment... Ground floor and a back appt., I used to pull it in at night parked in the living room. (and NO I never even thought of doing a burn out inside my appt.)
To each their own, right ..

Anyways, my parking the MC in the appt. went on for about 4-6months, then I got out of it and rented a house with a buddy I work with,... Good times let me tell you what ...

Good luck to you whatever you decide...

Peace Maverick

It depends on the storage facility.... I live in NYC and keep my track bikes in a dedicated track bike van that is parked in a 10 x 30 storage unit in NJ. I have 24/7 access and the facility is extremely safe.

Several people keep vehicles there ranging from classic muscle cars to a brand new Porsche (my opinion is that the guy is simply afraid to tell his wife about it....).

Check around the various storage facilities and generally, the national chains are the least desirable - find one owned locally...

Check on base. A lot of times MWR will have a car storage place, sometimes even indoors.

I have mine in a storage unit along with my tool box and other household stuff. PITA, but until I can afford a place with a garage (next place, in a year or two), my options are limited. I don't ride as much as I would like, but I won't leave it outside in the elements.
