Default So i curbed my wheel

So im riding with one of my buddies at around 10:30 pm. We are on a dark part of the road with a car cruising next to us around 60mph. Im on the outside with my buddy next to me. Then we see a bush blocking the bike lane and my half of the lane. I speed up while my buddy slows down so i can avoid the huge bush. After clearing the obsticle i start to move back over while my friend comes back up; and rite then i see this huge branch i would say eight inches, is in the same god damn spot!!! With no where to go, it was hold on, and up and over. All i can say is a Bucking Bronco. Luckily i didnt go down; but when i pulled over i noticed this. I dont know how its holding air; and how i didnt go down. So everyone please tie your s--t down!

a buddy of mine rode a bike like that for many many miles. All the while I told him there was no way I would do it.

mine looked similar to that after a wreck, I rode it for about maybe 30 miles... (very carefully and slowly) the bars would shake horribly if I went faster than about 35.

glad to hear you're alright, just count that as a little bit out of your luck bag and replace that wheel quick!

Go with frame straight!!!!

I had a wheel done in a place in SC, but I say stay away from that place. The Rim Repair place will remain nameless. They straightend the rim but took off half the paint in the process. I guess you get what you pay for. And they said it would be done in a week. Not the case, it was 2.5 weeks.

I was just reading this site the other day. Apparently their average cost is about $150-160-ish for a wheel repair. Not sure if this includes refinishing or not....

Check out their Before and After pics.....impressive.

Will's Rim repair in SC is what most of the WERA racers use. I had my wheel repaired and returned to me in 8 days. Shipped it out to him on Wed and it was returned to me the following Wed. Total cost was $65 plus the shipping to him, he covered the return shipping. When I got it back, could not even tell where the rim was bent.

This is totally the opposite of the experience I had with them. Never again!

Took 2.5 weeks. Which I can live with, but the amount of paint missing from the wheel was crazy. It was scratched to hell, and where they beat it back straight was missing paint in about a 5 inch square area.
I dried up a sharpie getting the wheel black again! My wheel was no where near as bad at the one that started this thread.

They charged me $65.00 for the work and $10.00 for shipping! Which I sent to them with the wheel as a money order. You get what you pay for. And this seemed cheap.

They also requested that I send more $ for shipping... NOT going to happen!

I sent the wheel to them insured and with delivery confirmation.
And on the return... It looks like they threw my boxed up wheel at the mail truck as it was driving by. Sheesh!

I will not recommend them. Can you tell! If you are looking to get your wheel back with out needing to be re-painted or what ever, I would look else were. If your a racer looking for cheap work this will do.

Well I'm a racer and my rim came back to me in near perfect condition and no paint removed......and I DO care what it looks like. Will has done tons of wheels for the WERA folk and most love his work. I'm sure there is a problem here and there but thats just business. You can't make everyone happy.

BTW - did your wheel come back straight?? Also, what did you expect?? A perfect wheel with perfect paint?? The wheel was bent, after bending it back and if the paint pulled away, my guess it's bad factory paint and nothing more.

It’s better than it was, but not perfect. And I can tell just by spinning the wheel on a stand. I will be using a dial caliper on it eventually to see how much it is off. What did I expect...I did not expect it to be all scraped up. I read allot of post on the WERA board stating this guy did great work. Not on mine!

This is my experience. I am sure he has done good work on others, just not mine, and there-for there is no way I am about to recommend this outfit.

If I had sent him the wheel of my other bike and it came back like this I would be fuming mad. As this is a track bike it's not a big deal.
