Default Well, got my bike back from her 16k service...

Only took 2 days more then what was said... They did have notes and numbers taken down for the valve clearances... tight and good until the next 16k... guess that's nice to hear. Oil changed (saw new filter on) and I aksed if my air filters were done (since they are the originals since bought new)... said they were changed (don't know if they were) all fluids were done (brakes and clutch) and verified done. Wow.
They reminded me my chain was "excessively" on its last adjustment. I KNOW... waiting for my 520 chain and 15/41 sprockets from CBR400RR to come in... and then that'll be done. Tires due... but will change them when my chain/sprockets show up.

Uh, negative now... I was really pleased to have all the greasy grubby finger prints on the fairings and right side of the gas tank. I guess detailing ones mess before delivery is outta the question. Bike looked like shit on the outside...

So, out of 1 thru 10... I'll give it a solid 6 (more or less on the air filter verifying).

If your air filters were changed they should be able to return the old parts. Greasy fingerprints are not cool. You did bring them a clean bike to work on, correct? The ****ing hicks in these parts bring filthy bikes in for service then get upset if you ask them to go wash them first.

did u do the air filter mod before you took the bike in???

if not do it and then you can get a close look of the filters and see what they really look like...if theyre clean then now you have clean ones with a mod...if not then take it back and show them that they are not

so its kinda like a win win situation!!!

Greasy finger prints everywhere are a true sign of a hack. But on the plus side it shows where the tech has been.

I dont know of one mechanic who washes bikes. So, in my book NOT a hack. Its the service writers job to get it cleaned after. It may be a busy place and not all bike get the attention they deserve every time.

My 16k service is due in the near future. What do the dealers typically get

for the valve adjustment or in your case the inspection?

Anyone who repairs anything is a slob if they handle finished parts without taking 8 seconds to wipe/wash their hands first, especially if he has grease or oil on them. This is the same mechanic that thinks nothing of getting grease or oil on your steering wheel or seat.......hack.

If he's more concerned with getting the job done to make his flat-rate time than making sure my bike doesn't look like a piece of grease covered shit, then I don't want him working on my bike. Too much chance of a hurry-scurry mistake.

Not only that: It takes another 4 seconds to wipe your greasy prints off a customer's bike, before saying you're finished. It's all part of doing a complete job....

Mechanics are busy guys, but allowing them to grub up customer's bike's is a bad habit and disrespectful to the customer's property.

I feel a bit................smacked up-side-the-head. All I meant was there should be a different guy who washes all the bikes after the mechanics are done with the repairs or services....If it wasnt cleaned, in my PROFESSIONAL opinion, the service writer should be blamed. To me this does not make the tech a hack.

Diff kinda vehicle, but definitly related... I don't even see how it benefits employees to do this, if they write it up at a certain price, it's not like they can pocket the money. It all goes to corporate.

I know exactly what you are saying JWM, and I also read Rigor loud and clear. Both good points. I think the reason why the tech that serviced is a hack in this particular case is because the grease he spread all over the bike surely didn't come from Arizona's RC And if it had, wouldn't kill him to take a red buffalo rag and wipe his hands a bit before handling the painted parts like the tank and plastics. Pride and attention to detail cannot be taught to someone who doesn't want to learn. Makes you wonder where else they might lack attention to detail. A thorough and clean mechanic exits and they are know and Team Honda Factory Mechanics. I have yet to see a factory race bike circle a track or even leave the pits with a smudge of grease anywhere. I try to replicate that level of cleanliness and attention to detail every time I turn wrenches on my toys.
