Headlight Problem, HELP

I have been for an MOT test today on my RC51 and she failed becuase i have a custom paintjob and the headlight light has been sprayed over to give the bike the "endurance" look. So i only have the dip light. So the bike failed because i have no headlight only dip.

Can i get a bulb that fits the dip light that will give me a dip and headlight beam? i understand that i would have to run a wire across from the headslight lead to get this to work but i guess that should not be a problem.

If i can put a bulb in the dip light that switcjhes between dip and headlight then problem solved and i get my MOT.

most of us don't understand DIP lights...I would think you are talking about what we called the little driving lights in the top corner of each headlights.

In the UK we have dip and main beam on the headlights. I believe they are called low and high beam in your part of the world.
The RC has dip (low) on one side and main (high) on the other. If the high beam side has been painted, then the bike will fail the Mot (annual check for roadworthyness) as it has only low (dip) beam.

Ceri,

The RC51 has H7 Bulbs, with adapters to fit the H4 plugs. Get an H4 Bulb, and trim the base smaller to fit in the H7 housing. (the size of the metal disc that fits into the light's housing) Figure out your Low and High beam terminals and wires, and make sure the bulbs filements are horizonal when you install it.

I did this on mine a long time ago, when I used to ride on the steet. If you search, I did a write up on it. The base can be trimmed carefully with a pair of tin-snips, or something of equal cutting strength.
