Nice job man. I really want to paint my bike. Did you do it yourself? If so, what brand paints did you use? What gun? I was looking at color-rite.com and they sell their paints in rattle cans and for guns. I was wondering how much of a difference you can expect with a cheap gun (I'm not going to get an expensive one) vs one of their aerosol cans.

I now own a motorcycle paint and body repair shop. I do all of the work myself as right now it's just a 1-man operation. I use PPG and House of Kolor paint. I would avoid Color Rite becuase their color matches aren't good and they charge way too much. PPG is cheaper and 50 times better. I use Sharpe guns for my base colors and sealers, then a Devilbiss to spray my clear as it atomizes the paint more with a smaller needle size. If you're going to try and spray it yourself, I would strongly suggest getting a cheap gravity-feed spray gun. Harbor Freight Tools sells a generic one that I've used many times without any problems. It's only $65 and will make the paint lay down much nicer than a rattle can.

A friend of mine races one in the Sound of Thunder here in the UK. He brought it wrecked and had lots of hassle getting spares for it.....some of them came off the production line the spares are that hard to get hold of!
It looks awesome too when I followed him around......he now has a 'special' end can made for it so there is only only 'bigger' pipe out of the back (much like a CBR RR)......sounds the nuts too!
life should be measured not by the amount of breathes you take but by the amount of times you breath is
taken away.........
You begin your riding career with an empty bag of experience and a full bag of luck. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.....
This one went down in the canyon here. He didn't seem to have any trouble getting some of the parts he needed (bar end, mirror, front upper stay) The sales seem to be picking up a bit. There's quite a few in Arizona now.

If your idea of a custom is something with stretched, chromed, and lowered parts, then this probably wouldn't be considered a custom. It's got some of the simple little things that make it look better other than the paint but nothing big or really noticeable.

Thanks for all the advice, I'll keep it all in mind.
That's pretty much how it was here. You had to get on a list. But they don't come in very often so there still aren't many despite the seemingly high demand.

Judging by the popular tests and numbers it seems to be on par with the other 600s in the class... it doesn't really seem to pump out any more torque or horsepower.

I hate chrome, and I don't have a stretched swing arm. Radial brakes? SS Lines? Marchesini wheels? Corbin seat? All I could see was a diff color bike with the heading "Custom". In the thread, the custom parts should have been included IMO. Just sayin...
I hear ya on the parts. Unfortunately the only A/M part that is offered here at the moment is an exhaust system made by Arrow but sold by Triumph. I've only ridden the bike around the block so I can't say anything about the handling or power. It's my neighbor's bike so I'm hoping he'll let me take that puppy out for a good ride since I gave him a deal on the paint job.
