Smile May 12-14 RC51s at Deal Gap

So whos going? Time is sneaking up fast!!
Checkout Tail of the Dragon Calender. We made the list! http://www.tailofthedragon.com/

Start a list:
Half Squid
Skiierx
Mycirus

The three of us listed will be there the whole week prior and are supposed to be leaving Sat the 13 but maybe we can leave late in order o hang out and possibly squeez a ride in.

Saturday: RC51 Rolling thunder at Deals Gap?? Meet at the Crossroads ( 28,129 ) and head out for a nice loop. I have a local 180 mile loop that will entertain us for a few hours.

Also lets do a Friday night meet and possibly a night run on the Dragon. Meet after dinner say 6:30-7 and hang out till whenever? 10PM Photo op. at the Crossroads????

My friends just got back on Monday. If you go to www.killboy.com you can see my friend on his R1 (first photo - lots O sparks). The two of us made the trip last year - what a great place to ride. I am no longer street riding so I didnt go.

I wont get there until late Friday evening, I might be draggin Nahullo with me but I'm definitely meeting a friend from OKlahoma who rides a CBR1000RR. I think a meet-up at the CROT on Sat morning would be great, I have a decent camera and can take group shots, or individual shots of some of you next to the "deals gap" sign if you want.

I plan on running the gap quite a few times, also 28 down to franklin and of course down to TWO and blood mtn in GA. The Cherehola and Foothills Pkwy are a snooze fest so I'm steering clear of those.

It should be a fun time!

Forgot to add I'll have my vid-cam on the bike, maybe we can do a few runs and I'll be able to get a lot of people on camera. We could leave as a group and I'd start at the back and work my way up to the front (safely).

What time Sat morning? 9:30am?

I'm sure most of us will have made a few runs by then but it still gives a chance for the late risers to get there

Obviously you have no idea. People think that the cops are all up in peoples shit up there. Really only on the weekends you see one or 2 cruisers to keep things in check. They make a couple of passes or hang out at the overlook and dont really bother anyone unless you are being really stupid. Yes they have had big weekends in the summer where they enforce strickly but they are far and few between.

Cherehola a snooze fest? I dunno know about that. Also for the camera, sounds like a good idea but it may be safer to start twords the front and wave people by you 1 by 1. That way you dont have to pass people when they may not know youre coming.

Good idea about starting in the front and just letting people by. If we have to (depending on the # of people) we can run up to the overlook and back while filming. 2 runs should be about 30 minutes of tape, and I can splice and edit it down to 5 to 10 minutes. I can either post the lower quality vid online, or if you want I can burn a high quality DVD (with music etc) and mail it out to whoever participates. Heck, maybe I can get some interviews at the CROT and toss that in there. I would only ask for a small donation for materials and postage

About the Cherehola, I consider that more of a Goldwing/Cruiser road. 95% of it is wide open sweepers that you have to carry some serious speed (IMO) through to make fun. I've made a few good runs and I dont think the speedo ever went under 75mph or so except for the few tight turns. That, to me, is just too dangerous. Riding it slow on an RC51 (or any sportbike) is just a waste of time. (IMO)

Oh yeah, you dont drop below 75, true, dangerous, yes if you crash.....But its a fun higher speed road. Not for a beginner for sure. I am gonna have my camera too. Maybe we can strap one to the back seat on your bike and you can edit it so get front and back views. That would be cool. I will bring my seat so we can strap it on. Sounds fun!!!!

Is your camera a DV recorder? If so we could try what you suggest, because then you could just send me the tape so I could put it all together. I could hang my camera off of the rear footpeg facing backwards (its a remote camera with the DV in the trunk) that would work nice!

I dont care what time, it will pretty much be a group decision. I would have to say between 9:30 - 11 anytime would be a good time frame. Myself Mycirus and Skiierx have to pack everything up and clean out the house before we can meet up.

Well since nobody responded yet beside Bruce and Twin Phil it's time to get everyone attention. I will put a link in the other thread for this.

Friday between 6:30-7
Saturday between 10:30-11 (followed by a rolling thunder ride up the Dragon over to 73 - 360 - Cherohala & Back to CROT via Cherohala/143/129. Approx 180 miles) Does that idea sound good?

For Friday night 6:30 at the CROT, get one run to the Overlook and back before dark. Then get another run when it is dark at a slower pace. Goint through at night in a group of 5 or more is very cool! You can see you buddies headlights or tail lights going through corners all around you! Try it at least once! Just dont be a hot shot and blast through at night, thats just crazy on that road..

You guys still there will have to try to put something together for Sunday. I will be half way home..
