Default Stands

I'm shopping for a rear stand and so far i really like the Pit-Bull. Just to understand things the lifting point for an '04-06 is the optional spool kit correct? Is the forward handle better one one person lifting or doesn't it really matter?

Last one, are the front wheel chocks necessary for garage parking?

I think pitbulls are WAY over priced in my opinion. I got some Lockhart Phillips stands and they are the cats ass!! Super heavy duty. I got both front and rear for like $220 or something like that. Best stands I have ever owned and they fit every sportbike.

pit bull has rear stand where you can switch from the bike being supported by spools to just supporting the bike under the swingarm.

No need for wheel chocks, but if you're planning to store the bike and not use it for a long time, might as well get a front stand too.

IF YOU SHOP AROUND YOU CAN GET A SET OF PIT-BULLS FOR 260-270 THATS WHAT I PAID FOR THE STANDARD LIFT REAR AND THE STEM LIFT FRONT. FOR $50 TO $60 I THINK THE PIT- BULLS ARE WORTH IT I MEAN IT IS HOLDING YOUR PRIDE AND JOY IN THE AIR

The stands (Pit-Bull standard) are coming in at $129 and spools for $16. That sounds reasonable to me. Am i missing something? Please help if you can. I've never had stands before.

I'd say go for the pit bull. I had LP rear once and it did not look to sturdy to me compared to the pit bulls

All my friends have pitbulls and compared to my LPs there is no difference in stability and quality. Pitbulls are over priced plain and simple. But if your set on them and you can get em for a good price then go for it

Default +1 for Pitt Bull

The new SS model allows you to use either method of lifting the rear.

Give this ebay'r a try. The stands are really strong and in my opinion very pitbull like. $80 for a front and rear stand. The rear stand goes spools or non-spooled. Ive had them for about 6 months of garage and a few track days.

Great feedback rating and shipping was super fast.

So is the bike frame already drilled and tapped to accept the spools? So what is better, frame support or spool? Forward handle or rear?

So many questions... thanks for the help guys.

there should be provisions for spools (don't forget to put locktite on the bolt thet holds the spool). I prefer spool support .... plus the spool on the bike can double as a swingarm slider. I use rear, never tried the front handle, but I heard that the front is easier to use

I believe only the '00 model has spool support. Anything over '01, you will have to get them welded.

If you buy a pitbull stand, make sure you get the non-spooled version, or the universal one.

A lot of folks also swear by Handy Stands.. At $99 for front and rear, it's a steal. Never heard anything negative about them.

00 models have spools. 01 no spools. 02 and up have spools. Guess what year I have?

to answer your question rear handle is fairly easy to operate. I can do it by myself with out any problems. Even when Im at the track without my kickstand on I can put the bike on its stand. I would go with spools if it were me. But get a stand that had both adaptors.

Thumbs up

Hey Munky!
Awesome deal on the stands there! Thanks!
Are they really good and strong like the pitbulls? The price is so cheap man, I could not tell in the pictures, do they have the stand that goes in the bottom of the steering neck? You know, so you can remove the forks!
Thanks!
Peace Jeff

+1 for the Pit Bulls, built like a tank, got the set (front and rear) at Cycle Gear last year on sale for $200. Dont scrimp on stands, get a good pair and they'll last a lifetime.

Oh yea thats right. Now I remember why I was so pissed when I bought my stands. And I loved how the dealer just told me to drill holes in the swingarm!! Yea ok. Needless to say, I will never bring my bike to them for ANY kind of work.
