Default How to quiet down my pipes???

I have the HMF carbon fiber high mounts and they are LOUD. Anyone tried rigging up some kind of removable baffle or know of a place to get some custom turn downs, etc? I was thinking of modding a removable baffle like is on cruiser drag pipes to help a little on the db's. Anyone got any better ideas?

Go back to stock?

Seriously, any baffle you rig up is going to seriously hamper performance and depending on the amount of backpressure it produces, could be detrimental to the motor.

How old are the pipes and are you the original owner? If they have any time on them at all you might want to consider repacking them as an option to quiet them down?

yeah, I got better idea!!

My nice neighbors had told me a couple days ago, that the 5:30 am song from my Banzias is a bit too much.

So, being a good and kind hearted soul that I am, this morning, I rolled the RC51 down to the corner, then around the corner, and then fired her up.. End result, everybody happy....

Everybody is happy??? Are you happy pushing your bike down to the corner and around the corner at that hour?

Unfortunately that's what I'm having to do... except at 6:30am instead

I was going to go the repacking route next as they probably have 5k miles on them, but I doubt it will be as stealth as I am hoping for.

That's why I'm going with low mounts.

First, at 5:30 am I am on my way to the gym.
Second, it is only about a block down to the corner, down hill too.
Third, the comprimise of rolling the bike about a block down the street, and around the corner only takes an extra 5 minutes. However, the extra 5 minutes is making my neighbor happy, plus it is not stopping me from doing my thing. If you ever heard Banzias fire up with the choke on, one can understand that at 5:30 in the morning that can be problem.
Fourth, I wasn't going to be dickhead and tell my neighbors to "go phuck themselves"

No way under the sun would I even thinking about changing the sound or the decibel level of my banzais. To me, they are likey a symphony.

Like you, I care about my neighbors. And it is not to hard to work out a comprimise..

To tell the truth, if the low mounts are less noisy, I doubt if we could tell it with the naked ear. IMO, low mounts are going to be about the same. The low mounts might not have that signature start up CRACK or BOOM, that the banzais have, but they got a report!! A sweet one too...

Try re-packing. I have the same problem right now for different reasons. I live in Germany and my pipe are illegal. Motorcycle exhaust here have to have db eaters in them. Its a ticketive offence. I also can't pass race tech they tested me and just shook thier head no. Not allowed on the track. 110 db at 9000 rpm. I thought that was stupid. Germans try to maintain a utopia society. They don't like to offend anyone. Most of the race tracks are in rural areas but, if there are houses close they have more stringent rules. I have the stock exhaust which I can feal the wieght difference as soon as I ride the bike. I have been looking at Jardine RT-1 because they sell street baffles and a opion for a QMI rt-1 quiet tips youcan insert.

Jardine

QMI RT-1 Tips

Aluminum Billet Quiet Module Inserts

Easily inserts into the Jardine RT-1 canister to reduce sound output for a queit ride, or remove when more decibles are desired
