Default SSD Drives and Windows 7

I just updated my main gaming box to RAID-0 with dual 128GB SSD and OMFG what an amazing upgrade! I get Win 7 to load in under seven seconds and the over all response time is drastically improved. Everything is instant on. If you have them money look at this upgrade. Well worth it.

Sounds like a sweet rig, man! I was looking at upgrading my seven year old PC this year, but the money went into the cost difference of selling my '09 650R for an '04 RC51. :/ Would have enjoyed owning both, but I'll have to live with what I got (the PC, that is) for another year.

I've been keeping an eye on the SSD market from Anandtech. Looks like Intel is making a big push to take back the performance crown, so hopefully that'll really bring prices down into a mainstream segment so more people can upgrade to them.

Right now Intel has about the best drive. I preffer OCZ because the tech support/forums are fantastic.

I run the Intel SSD in my PC. Amazing performance upgrade....I'm still running Vista ultimate but it boots up very fast. Haven't timed it.

My work computer was just upgraded to 7 and I really like it (we skipped Vista). Before I do the upgrade at home I will need to basically upgrade everything hardware-wise. 7 requires large amount (3X+) the RAM compared to XP to run smoothly.

I would think 4 GB minimum.

I've had pretty good results with 2~3 gb for general use, but I have 6gb in my main machine. It is pretty noticeable when I'm working with batches of photos.

I run 4gb in my notebooks and 8gb in my main machine. If I build a new one I'll bump to 12gb.

We use a 3D design software called Solidworks and their product Cosmos for FEA. 1GB of memory use just from these is not uncommon. If you have ever been "rolling" and really making progress with several files at once only to have it crash due to low memory, and not sure when you last saved, it is incredibly frustrating.
