Love it.. As long as they don't have any V4's I might sign up.

I just got back from a super fun, hard charge on my real bike... The day they get the thrill I just had captured in virtual reality is the day I give up sex.
Nothing compares.... "Aint nothing like the real thing"

I have tried the game out and it is pretty cool. My main problem is getting the joystick to work as a controller (Logitech Wingman Extreme). Downloaded the latest drivers for it but the game doesn't seem to recognize it. It only beeps when I push a joystick button but doesn't recognize and assign the control to that input. Very frustrating.
I need a progressive throttle and lean, using the keypad blows. I've tossed it away more than Hopkins this year

It's really shocking how they left this game unfinished, unwelcoming and totally confusing. The menus are really, super annoying. Big thumping noises and clicks and hootzpahs but nothing for a simple notification that someone has joined your online session.
There are no real avenues to discuss the game(within the game)let alone any easy ways to host, kick, chat or modify the game. Menus that hide themselves and all the features that are forsaken. It stinks and stings.
Well, SB, you have a great Jstick. You need to download Joy2Key and program your stick to emulate keyboard commands. Scan you downloads. This program was developed for the physically handicapped. Dont bother trying to get two, separate sticks/wheels to work. SBK09 itself doesnt allow it.
I wanted to put my (in game SBK09)rear brake on my right pedal from my Momo wheel. That would give me an axis to be subtle with the rear brake instead of what I do now, tap tap tap..the trigger of the joystick.
Quote:
My setup
Joystick: Precision Pro2 force(Microsoft)
Push for accelerate
Pull for front brake
Trigger = rear brake
Side to side = turning
Top JS buttons = shifting up/down
Joystick "lever" aka throttle = Rider lean

I had another amazing session on Sunday. Imola, 5 laps in the rain, no mistakes and finished 45seconds ahead of everyone. I was on rails! The close racing is the shite tho. Clean passes, good manners and fast laps.
The trick to cockpit 1 is that lean lever. Get that right and you get your maximum grip. I usually dont force the cockpit view online because so few will join the server then. Sigh. However, I highly recommend it because it simulates riding better than anything so far. Once you "get it" you'll be faster, with less hours, than the chase view crowd. You also have advantage with joystick. It's another axis to master but, because it makes it realistic, and we're real bikers, we have the advantage of experience and intuition. The more realistic they make these sims, the more advantage we have... in theory.
I am cockpit1=extreme on the server, I'll be hosting a few tonight. If you guys join with a Zilla in you name, or let me know what moniker you have, I can start a server with 20 laps and we can stay together and just practice. It doesnt have a "join in progress" like most so, we have to start together if we want to practice. I start a lot of 2 laps races because it's less time for people to wait if they want to join.
After you see my lines you'll see why I am whoopin the arcade crowd with so little time in. It's really too phunny.... phun too. Good luck! Let me know if you need any help with j2K.
I've got a brand new, size Med, official Kawasaki Tshirt that I'll ship to any Zilla member(1year old membership minimum) who can beat me in a three lap race on full, extreme settings in forced cockpit... I know, I know, it's merely a Kawasaki T... think of Marco putting up instead of Kawi pulling out!
The prizes we could assemble and distribute! The misc, quality stuff, we all have, we never use or wanted or doesnt fit, we could ship around. Maybe the grand prize = donation(in the winner's name) to the airfence or injured riders fund. Something to think about anyho.
I say this is better than poker night.

I like the cockpit view also, the chase views just seem like a video game. What I liked about the old SBK2000/2001 games was that in cockpit mode there were a few times my concentration level was so high afterward it almost felt like I was on a bike for real.
There are some real bugs in the game with the joystick problems being the biggest one. My throttle axis isn't recognized so I was forced to use the stick axis as brake and throttle. Other ones are the "reset" to chase view with each race and having to pick your rider and team each time you start the game.
But on my computer with everything turned on maximum I have to say the graphics are very good, better than the old games (I should hope after 8 years!). The tracks don't seem as...treacherous as on the old games. Case in point the chicane at Kyalami. In the old game you would have been launched off the bike when hitting the curb, now you can ride over it without problems.
Does anyone have a scanned copy of the manual yet?

I dont think there is a manual! Thats hurting for sure. The only config file is interesting. I see a CmdLine: that could be a way to remember settings. The menus are from hell. A dyslexic fruitcake authored them for sure.
Not remembering my settings/choices is a royal pain in the butt. I have yet to play with setups. I want too but get sick of manually setting them. If I wanted to get faster I have to play with suspension, gears etc. But to have to go through six levels of menus with thumps and whiz bangs each time, I just cant.
Try push stick for throttle and use the JStick throttle lever for rider lean.
I am runningthe game 800x600 no antialising because my comp is soo lame. However, I get good frame rates and, it looks good up close to the windscreen.
I have internet 15(fast) so I can host with pretty smooth gameplay. The faster the host the better off everyone is. SBK 2001 was virtually unplayable online with more than 2 players. Now, at least, we can have 5-6 with reasonable smoothness.
This guy isnt very smooth but he is. at least, using the manual cockpit.

I cant believe how much fun it was this weekend. I hosted a few, forced cockpit, sessions and they filled up! I am enjoying the dominant position for now but the gap is closing.
More and more people choosing the simulation(extreme) option of balance, deft and delicate touch and a sim as close as we have, to date, to the real thing.
Here are some of my online best laps..
Donnington 144.758(wet) Valencia 141.010(rain)
136.523
Misano 154.849(wet)
147.609
Gobs of fun.

Nobody here on the SBK09 servers yet? How disappointing.
SBK 09: Superbike World Championship 2009 | CD WOW! US
Couldn't get much cheaper... $28 delivered in the USA. Add a $20 joystick and you're in the simulation business!
We had 6 riders in the forced cockpit extreme sessions this weekend. whoohoo.

Update for Lame Gamers!
Got Winter? Buy this game and git on it.
SBK-X is in the pike and they(the Italians!) are currently listening to real riders and lame gamers alike so, if you likey simulation bikes, put some effort and info into it. (suggestions/complaint etc) MILESTONE GOES BLOG! « Milestone Tell them you want it pronto in the States and you want BEN SPIES on the cover! 28$---hmmmm cheap
SBK 09: SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2009 (PC) | CD WOW! US
Point is: They're listening.
I'm trying to get them to include look to apex, better control, scanned tracks and better physics.. not too much to ask.... all so real riders can relate more.. example vids = something we all take for granted...looking. My riding is not so hot but I dont play this, only SBK09. (riding aint so hot there either )
Hope to see some of you by name out there this winter...

Glad someone's a fan!
Did this up last night for MileStone to look at!
Here' MileStone's latest on SBK-X!
It's Ben celebrating his championship @ Portimão
MileStone:
"One of the most frequent requests was a “more lively” environment, since we had static two-dimensional spectators, an empty pit lane, and so on. We totally agreed that we had to push hard in that direction, because we wanted to get the tracks’ detail to the same level of bike’s and riders’ one. So, first of all, we had to optimize all the rest of the game, to gather the memory and CPU performance needed to render some… yes, thousands, of animated, 3D spectators.
Done.
..Well, putting it this way, sounds a bit on the easy side, but believe me, it isn’t at all! Anyway, at the end our 3D Engine gurus solved it and suddenly we could fill the grandstands, the hills, and yes, the pit lane too! It’s really amazing to see the difference, and to blaze by at 300km/h under the waving chequered flag. Did I say “waving”? Yes, we put in animated marshals, too, and the race director on the final straight. They react to the race’s events and signal threats and everything else, there, on track, corner by corner."
Hopefully, we'll get 6 Axis controller support and then we can see what we can do!!!Double the axis and that starts to make sense and it's a positive step towards more realism and less arcade. With these controllers. it is possible to tilt forward and sideways for looking and still have enough axis for rider up/down side to side/steering and dedicated axis for back brake.. powerslide/drifting here we come.

I've got SBK09 on my PS3 - haven't played it much yet. Six axis controller is good as it has levers on those "buttons" marked 1 and 2 on the pic above. These are the throttle and brake in the default settings for SBK09 on the PS3.
