Available now for Playstation2 - Capcom's Moto GP 07.
As you may know, the first four titles in the Moto GP series for Playstation were developed for, and distributed by Namco. This latest game is from Capcom, who have just recently secured the Moto GP license for the Playstation platform.
I bought my copy last night, and spent about two hours playing it in its various modes. Here's how I think it stacks up to Moto GP 4.
Circuit models: Much better. The circuits are much more recognizable as the resembling the real venues, based on televised Moto GP events. There's more detail in the circuits, signage, runoff areas, granstands, and backgrounds. It looks much more like what you see on TV.
In game graphics/sound: Better. The vehicle models are detailed and organic looking. The movement of the riders is more natural. There are no frame rate slowdowns, even with a dozen or more bikes in action on the screen. The sounds are realistic and distinctive. Crashes look much more real, with bikes and riders tumbling or sliding as appropriate.
Replays: Far better. Maybe the best replay mode in any racing game, at the conclusion of a race, you get a highlight reel showing the best passes and crashes from the race, whether you were in them or not. For total race replays, the controls are comprehensive, allowing fast forward and an "orbit" mode when paused that shows off how detailed the track maps really are. Also, the music is quite good - real rock music, not arcade-y synth techno.
Physics: Much better. With three modes, Arcade, Advanced and Simulation, you can choose how difficult the bike is to control. In Simulation mode, the bike misbehaves much as you would expect a 240 hp bike to. Gas it with the rear wheel on the paint or God forbid on the grass, and you'll be on your head right away. Low sides and high sides are predictable results from stupid riding. Get used to using some rear brake to keep the front wheel down over hills and on race starts. Bumpy pavement and cresting a hill leaned over at the Sachsenring will get you loose. Rumble strips rumble menacingly. This feels more like riding a motorcycle than any other PS2 game I've played, including Tourist Trophy, Suzuki TT Superbikes, and all the previous Moto GP games.
What's missing: Online play. Carreer mode. Support classes.
Anyone picked up MotoGP 2007 for the XBox 360 yet?
No but ive played it, its basically the same game as '06.
I just cant get into that game. The physics suck and the bikes feel wonky. I had '06 for about a year and still couldnt manage to keep a decent racing line.

more review to come.
Great review
I just got the PC version of this. Its pretty good indeed.
I have a 512 vid card, gig of ram and a wickedly fast, widescreen monitor so, it looks amazing. 1680x1050 maxed, Could use 2 gig ram. If you can run it @ steady 60fps then its going to be fun for you. I LOVE the details.
I use the second cockpit view and a good joystick, this way i can precisely control rider lean and see it from an active, "on the bike" simulation. Sadly, most people still use behind bike, arcade mode and 0% sim setting.
However, it's online and the competition is tight and, if you're patient, there are people playing with more realistic settings. Mostly Spanish and Italian players. Still no classes but stats are kept if you patch it.
