Default Anyone played EA Sports Superbike 2001?

Finally got around to installing it on my new system. Old machine was an ancient Win98/650MHz machine. On the new one with 256Mb video and faster processor it is fantastic. Shadows, rain, sun glare off the windscreen, the graphics are very good and fluid.

It is pretty fun to play too, especially with force feedback. While lap times are not realistic (I can lap Phillip Island about 2-3 seconds faster than real life times today), it is still a great way to waste a few hours. There are skins available for MotoGP as well online.

If you get a chance to pick up a used CD of the game, try it out, you'll like it.

I used to love that game, too bad no one can seem to figure out how to make a better bike game with this newer technology.

something true to life would kick ass, having counter steering, and whatnots...

I still play the game. I consider it one of the best. Too bad EA Sports decided to nix any future editions. I just saw the link for the skins so I'll have to try that now...

I re-installed it last night after a ****ing Windows crash, and while I was at it I found an updated physics file that had more realistic power curves and improved front end traction. It made the Bimota very slow, but that is probably more realistic. Hondas and Ducatis don't even have to draft down fast straights, they have 10+ mph on the top end on Gobert and the Bimota. It would be interesting to compare the original and this one, and maybe come up with a new one to reflect a modern superbike or MotoGP bike.

I may try to dig into the game files a little to change the traction available on the grass and curbs to reduce traction available.

What is amazing to think about is that this game is only five years old, and current stock literbikes have as much power as the full 750cc racebikes from the game.

If you are running Win2000 or XP get this first:
http://www.bhmotorsports.com/SBK2k1/downloads/551

Then download the physics:
http://www.bhmotorsports.com/download/9378
It will create some files, and you can see where they come from and vary from the line in the menu.*** file (can't remember the extension)

Here is another resource:

The makers of this great game have made the physics model of SBK2001 obsolete with their new release Superbike RC (riding challenge)
no multiplayer and no replay tho.... totally lame.
You wont think anything in SBK2001 is realistic after trying this one.
