look at that. this dude is building a fuuckin fortune, and a large company, based on the simple brilliance of the parallel twin. common sense, intelligence, hard work, and a parallel twin. how can you guys reasonably ignore such a thing?
if you like this thread and would like to see a more organized and interesting section on parallel twins, check the poll in this section - street and track - and vote yes biitches
Some very cool pics, thanks. I think the I2 is a fantastically compact, beautiful looking motor, particularly well suited to motorcycles.
Who cares if they vibrate more than many other designs (and it's true that they don't have the balance advantage of the V-twin)......designers can work around that by clever used of engine mounts, or even go the whole hog like BMW did with their balance rods. Sometimes, a little bit of "vibe" adds character, IMO. Who wants to ride a ****ing sewing machine?
It all adds to the visceral experience.
The only think I'm not crazy about a 180 I2, is the sound....tend to be a little anemic sometimes. The 360 I2 (like the old Triumphs) sounded great, but were in effect, large singles in terms of vibes...and man, they had a LOT of "character!"
Great thread.

We dont have a single, v-twin, triple, I4, V4, flat 4, I6, or flat 6 section, but because one member wants it, we should have a section for the least used motorcycle engine configuration currently being made?
