MN Ice Riders, So. Suburbs

Wondering if there are any other Ice Riders in the Southern Twin Cities Suburbs.
Noob to Ice with an XR100. Where do you usually ride at?
I was just going to use the ATV w/ Plow and make a small track once things freeze up solid again.
Heard there is a group that meets in Lakeville @ Lake Marion.

I don't know who organizes the races at Marion, but I stopped by last year and watched them racing karts on the ice. Pretty damn cool.

They race right off the frontage road on I-35. See pic.

It's a bunch of us from the CRA. If it ever gets cold again we will be back out. We ride on Sundays. Some other CRA people(Wes Good, Steve Bauman...) ride on Lake Swede in Waterton on Sundays.
We have nothing to do with the cart guys.

The races there are pretty casually put together by some CRA guys (Mark Nelson, Adam Dolney, Corey & Patrick Schweich, Chad Bakkne, Tommy Mason, Edgar Dorn, etc) who also happen to race a weekly league at ProKart in Burnsville, although I've never been witness to a kart on the ice (I'd love to see that).

They've been out on Lake Marion every Saturday for the past few weeks (and as far as I know they'll be back out this Saturday). They generally start mid-morning (9-10am from what I've heard) and run until roughly 3-4pm depending on conditions.

Chad has built a rig for his 4-wheeler that allows him to plow out a course, then go back over it with a spinning brush to clean the surface. Makes for some great ice.

Just a warning though... if you're coming by to ride, make sure you have your DNR sticker - they stopped by to check last Saturday and passed out a few tickets.

If anyone is interested in stopping by - take I35 to the 185th Street Exit in Lakeville. Then head south on the frontage road on the East side of the highway... the "bike launch" is only about a 1/2 mile down - just keep your eyes peeled to the left for some bikes and/or a pile of trucks gathered in the parking area.
