as the clean air rushes pass my skin
the poles and bushes tick by as if sitting in a railroad car
i twist the throttle open
and glance down to check the speed ‘O’
it reads, 110…120…130
a 40 mile an hour corner approaches –
i downshift and decelerate.
at 80, and leaned over like a sailboat in heavy winds
i’m using 70% of my skills,
and everything still feels safe

i grab a handful of throttle just passed the apex
and the g-forces stick me firm in the seat

i shift up as the RC redlines 6000…7000…9000

this stretch is long and dry.
an oversized smile spreads my face
…here i go again
